The Tom Clancy universe will make for a great cinematic universe if done right. It could be cool to see Jack Ryan, Sam Fisher, Ding Chavez, Mitchell and the ghost recon operators. Splinter cell, Rainbow six and Ghost recon could be pretty good movies. If James Bond and Ethan Hunt could work I don’t see why Sam Fisher would be an issue.

As I’ve said before I hate Baldwin’s politics but he was the best Ryan by a country mile. Hollywood really screwed up the franchise. They should’ve kept the writers in place and signed McTiernan and Baldwin to do a trilogy. Red Oct, Patriot Games and Clear and Present. I don’t think McTiernan had gotten into trouble yet. Baldwin finally came out and said he wanted to do Patriot Games but that a producer had it in for him. Given Baldwin’s volatility who knows what the truth is. I remember he was on Broadway at the time doing Streetcar named Desire and that supposedly conflicted with the shooting schedule. I remember reading Patriot Games in one night on its release day and couldn’t believe what a fail the movie ended up being. Tom Clancy really didn’t want Ford as Ryan as he was too old and I didn’t blame him. Grew up with and loved Harrison as Solo and Indy but I was starting to see Fords limitations as an actor.
Keanu Reeves was also mentioned as the young John Clarke when Clancy came out with his Vietnam era origin story and thought that would’ve been great casting given where his career has headed.
