JACK RYAN Meets Noomi Rapace's Mysterious New Spy In First Look Photos From Season Two

While Amazon Prime Video is remaining tight-lipped about the premiere date, Entertainment Weekly has managed to infiltrate the CIA to share two first-look photos from the eagerly-awaited second season of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.

Speaking with EW, the series' 4x Primetime Emmy-nominated star John Krasinski teased Ryan's new world view, following the events of the first season. “This is a guy who very openly stated, ‘Here’s all the work. Go get the bad guys. I don’t want to be a part of it. But now his eyes have been opened and he can’t go back.”

With his latest mission taking Ryan to Venezuela to unravel a nefarious plot concocted by the Venezuelan president, we can safely assume the ace CIA analyst will be tested once again. However, he may - or may not - have some much-needed backup in the form of a mysterious new spy played by Noomi Rapace. “I want to team up with her so bad, and probably have feelings for her, but also am constantly aware this is espionage. This isn’t a date at the mall. This can go south at any time.

In addition to Krasinski (The Office), both Abbie Cornish (Seven Psychopaths) and Wendell Pierce (The Wire) are expected to reprise their roles as Cathy Muller and James Greer, respectively. New series regulars include Noomi Rapace (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows), Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Jovan Adepo (Sorry For Your Loss), Jordi Mollà (Bad Boys II), Cristina Umaña (Narcos), and Francisco Denis (Narcos).

Also, in case you missed it, the critically-acclaimed series has already been renewed for a third season, meaning Jack's adventures are likely far from over.

When CIA analyst Jack Ryan stumbles upon a suspicious series of bank transfers his search for answers pulls him from the safety of his desk job and catapults him into a deadly game of cat and mouse throughout Europe and the Middle East, with a rising terrorist figurehead preparing for a massive attack against the US and her allies.

My comment didn't show up. The site might still be malfunctioning a little.

Anyway, this looks good and exciting. As long as the release date is not too close I think I can still binge this soon.

Never in a million years would I have envisioned Jim Halpert playing Jack Ryan. He pulled it off effortlessly. Great first season. Can't wait for season 2.

The first season was VERY meh. They should have used this opportunity to adapt the book series covering a different novel with each season instead of this generic, played out storylines and tropes

@MrDandy - The problem with adapting the books is that the stories within were products of their time, so they'd be difficult to adapt now. They were very much Cold War stories.

Patriot Games couldn't be adapted because the IRA as a terrorist group doesn't exist anymore, not in any major capacity, and even with the Brexit tensions between the UK and NI, I just don't think there'll be anymore violence erupting between us. There hasn't been any violence for twenty years now.

Executive Orders is easy to adapt because of all the shit going on between the US and Iran who were the bad guys in the novel. It's not a stretch to believe that war between those two countries could break out since there's a lot of tension between them now. It's a relevant and timely book to adapt.

The books that could be adapted easily are the ones that focus on Russia. They can take the general idea and modernise those stories. The Hunt For Red October could still focus on Captain Ramius' defection, but if they change the backdrop to be about a coup or civil unrest in Russia that threatens to turn into a world war it would probably work.

Season 2 looks like it's taking inspiration from Clear and Present Danger with the South American setting. Or at least part of it is.

First season was very good (but not great), looking forward to this. Noomi Rapace is a terrific addition.

I enjoyed the first season more than I expected and the concise number of episodes really helped as the season felt focused and tight. I'm excited and curious to see where season 2 goes and having Noomi Rapace included is awesome too.
