Deadline is reporting that Paramount TV and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes are developing a television series based on Tom Clancy's popular CIA hero Jack Ryan with Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and Lost writer Graham Roland attached. No word yet on which network might get the series, but the report adds that the project is currently generating a lot of interest and has many interested parties bidding for its rights.
As for the direction of the show, it's said to not be a direct adaptation of the Clancy novels, but will instead be a "new contemporary take on the character in his prime as a CIA analyst/operative using the novels as source material."
The character of Jack Ryan most recently appeared in 2014's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, played by Chris Pine (Star Trek Byond). He has also been previously portrayed by Alec Baldwin (Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation), Harrison Ford (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), and Ben Affleck (Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice).
