This Monday was the funeral for 14-year-old Sherlock superfan, Eve Shepherd. She was such a fan of the Sherlock Homes that the series theme song was accompanied the processional leaving the church. While the serie star, Benedict Cumberbatch was unavailabe to attend as he was filming her favorite show but he did send out a heart felt letter to the family.

I send my deepest sympathies to Eve’s family to lose someone so young who fought for her health all her life must be beyond endurance. … I hope they can take solace from the fact that she was clearly much loved and her support of our show is hugely appreciated and shall be remembered. God rest her soul. With all my love and sympathies, Benedict xxx.

The Shepherd family says that as a fan of the show Eve would have been overjoyed to have received a letter from Cumberbatch. "Eve would find this funny as she was a big TV and film fan," her father Mark said, She would be giggling her head off at the thought that she was in the newspaper. She would be so happy about the letter from Benedict. She was a huge fan."

It's sad....but I don't understand what's so important about her that gets so much attention. Just like how some randoms dying of other diseases get to see certain movies early. What about the thousands of other fans out there dying of disease? Would they all get to see the movie? Or have a celebrity attend their funeral...

@ComicalDisaster
Are you saying that if celebrities can't reach out to every single one of their sick fans they shouldn't reach out to any of them at all?
