Variety is reporting that Warner Bros., Village Roadshow, and Team Downey have put together a writers' room with several top names, including Nicole Perlman (Captain MarvelGuardians of the Galaxy), Justin Malen (Baywatch), Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Geneve Dworet-Robertson (Tomb Raider), and Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden).

This is only the first step in making the long-rumored film a reality, but it's sounding more and more likely that it goes on floors late next year or early 2018 after Robert Downey Jr. (Captain America: Civil War) fulfills his commitments on Marvel Studios' highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War, which is expected to begin its long production schedule next February.

In addition to Downey, Jude Law (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) is also expected to return as Dr. John Watson and Guy Ritchie (King Arthur: Legend of the Sword), who helmed the first two films, is once again expected to be in the director's chair for the third installment.

So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!

What I do remember is how forgettable these two movies were.

They waited too long to do this, imo.

I didn't finish watching the second one. Not because I hated it, I just haven't gotten around finishing it.

@Highflyer - I'd suggest finishing it, the finale of the second film is quite surprising and very tense, sticks in my memory as a very clever inversion of the usual blockbuster set peice showdown. Won't spoil beyond that.

God damn, as a DC, Harry Potter, Bugs Bunny fanboy, can I just say to WB, get your [frick]ing shit together. You've been around for years, you know what you're doing. STOP DOING STUPID SHIT LIKE THIS.

You know you never wait this long for a "third movie" if you want it to be a "franchise", it needs to be an actual "franchise" before taking a break.

Give it a rest.

Also, Sherlock on BBC will always be better, although I did love the first Sherlock Holmes with Downey. PS, [frick] you WB

@DannRamm113 - I'm trying to gather an angry mob with torches and pitchforks outside their studio, want in on the action?

these movies just blend together for me, don't know if that's a good thing or not.

Picking an American actor to play Sherlock is borderline offensive.

I own the second movie, still haven't watched it in all these years (it was a gift).

@ALostCause - Hey if Tom Holland can be Spider-Man and Henry Cavill can be Superman then it should be ok lol

@ALostCause - I know!! RDJ's teeth are too straight to be playing a Brit.

Part 2 had one of the best twist endings I seen in a long time.

Great news! Love the first two. Glad that Guy Ritchie is back for this. Hope King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is good. AND I'm still hoping that Guy Ritchie does a sequel to RockNRolla.
