Kind of hard to believe that Guy Ritchie of all people would doubt someone's acting abilities. Isn't he the same guy that directed Madonna in 2002's torturous
Swept Away? Yeah I know he was married to her and she sunk her claws into him, and almost derailed his career entirely with this stink bomb, but he still chose to do it.
He could've told his then wife, "Hey Madge, you can't act a lick, oh please stop singing you aren't very good at that either." That would've made me happy. Right Mr. DJ? Oh, you couldn't hear me cause that skeleton of a pop star told you to turn the music up.
How dare you question the ability of Robert Downey Jr.? My god he is one of the finest actors in Hollywood by far. His performances saved movies from being average time and time again. How good is
Less then Zero without Downey Jr.? How about Iron Man? The guy absolutely slayed that role. He added so much charisma to a character that wasn't exactly multi-layered.
And Jude Law, eh he can have his doubts about him, I do. I loved him in
Gattaca, and
Road to Perdition. Both movies didn't depend on Law to carry the films.
But Jude is most the times in my opinion just window dressing for a film. He was a drag on
The Holiday which is a very good movie. Jack Black co-starred in that film and surprisingly gave a more believable and ultimately better performance.
Even the remake of Michael Caine's
Alfie was as much fun to watch as it is to see butter melting on hot bread.
