ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Fan-Art May Give Us Some Idea Of M.O.D.O.K.'s Character Design

Some fan-art supposedly based on official promo art from San Diego Comic-Con may give us some idea of how the villainous M.O.D.O.K. will look in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man: and The Wasp: Quantumania.

As we know, M.O.D.O.K. is set to be introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and some new fan-art might just give us an idea of how the villain will look when he makes his MCU debut in the threequel.

This artwork seems to have fooled quite a few people into believing it was the real deal, but it is pretty close to some of the descriptions that were shared online following Marvel Studios' panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The "Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing" appeared briefly in the trailer, and the panel also included shots of some official concept designs.

It's certainly an... interesting take on the character, but then, he's always been one of the most bizarre-looking Marvel Comics baddies, so his live-action debut should reflect that.

Again, it's worth keeping in mind that this is just one artist's interpretation based on what was shown at SDCC, and M.O.D.O.K. may end up looking very different in the actual movie.

We're still not certain how M.O.D.O.K. will factor into the plot, but the rumor mill points to none other than Darren Cross (Corey Stoll) taking on the mantle after being banished to the Quantum Realm towards the end of the first Ant-Man.

While the notion of Cross being somehow transformed into the megalomaniacal villain might seem far-fetched, it would explain why we haven't seen the character in so many years, and Stoll has been confirmed to reprise the role of the former Yellowjacket.

Peyton Reed is back behind the camera for Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne's (Evangeline Lilly) next adventure, which will feature the return of Jonathan Majors as the villainous Kang the Conqueror and the debut of Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang.

Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are set to return as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne. "Wombats" Luis (Michael Peña) and Kurt (David Dastmalchian) will also be back as Scott Lang's (Paul Rudd) sidekicks, but T.I. (Dave) is believed to have been dropped from the movie amid multiple allegations of sexual assault against him and his wife.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theaters on February 17, 2023.

If you saw the trailer leak, it definitely has red eyes and maybe silver teeth. Also it looks like Warner Doscovery is saving almost a billion in tax write offs from cutting the fat https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/warner-bros-discovery-takes-825m-writedown-on-content-1235192629/amp/

@bobevanz - not gonna lie, that's pretty impressive. Also, takes quite some guts to gut so much stuff

@bobevanz - A billion in tax write-offs saved doesn't mean much when they are $55 billion in debt, does it?

Lol

@bkmeijer1 -
It's not like there was a huge audience for the stuff they slagged.

@Goldboink - even if the audience interest wasn't big, it's still work that hundreds if not thousands of people worked on

@bkmeijer1 - No doubt and it's somewhat tragic that nobody will get to see their work. It's the most drastic thing I have ever seen. They still had decisions to make at the top. It's like a football team that has been mismanaged and you have to start from scratch.

It looks goofier and worse than the comics version.

I feel like audiences can accept a giant floating head by this point. But if they must go the fully mechanical route, I hope it looks better than that.

@MasterMix - my guess is that the mask opens up to reveal a more comic accurate face.
GhostSurfer

@hainesy - That's my guess. He where's the helmet because of shame and eventually has to remove it (maybe the heroes damage it or something?) and he takes it off for a hilarious scene in the film.

Would be pretty dissappointed if that's his final look. Was kinda expecting a more human-ish face, like the Transformers had in Age of Extinction.

I don’t like that at all. I’ll miss his giant flesh head the way I missed godzillas fat thighs in 1998 If that’s along the lines of what they would consider

The Avengers game’s Modok is probably the best we will get when in comes to something realistic.

MCU MODOK sounds like a big mistake. If he is Darren Cross that is such a dumb Hollywood style change just to tie in the trilogy. Wasting MODOK on that is incredibly short-sighted.

Looks incredibly stupid. It ain’t Modok if there’s no grotesque human face. He’s supposed to look goofy and hideous at the same time.

one of my big issues with the MCU is they can't just do the comics without making fun of it. They trick people into thinking they're better than the FoX-Men because they have slightly better costumes. But big goofy stuff like this isn't gonna happen
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/6/2022, 12:00 PM
@Dredd97 - The MCU is WAY better than Fox-Men, and it isn't just because of costumes...

Having said that, I do get disappointed with the MCU's take on their more fantastical characters. They screwed up Ego and The Supreme Intelligenct. So I don't have a lot of hope for MODOK.
Dredd97
Dredd97 - 8/6/2022, 12:06 PM
@CorndogBurglar - see I wouldn't even say that they're WAY better. I feel the X-Men movies handled a lot of their material with mote gravitas. Hell, they treat the names and characters with more respect. Aside from Wolverine, nobody really mocked the codename stuff
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 8/6/2022, 1:23 PM
@Dredd97 - I can't agree with that. The Fox-Men movies pretty much disrespected almost every character in their films, outside of Wolverine, Xavier, and Magneto. Even Mystique was handled terribly, despite being a main character.

None of the other characters were ever handled well. In any way.

Wonder how high they were when created him.

They're across his MODOK makes no sense to me. They really have to kill it for me to accept it in any way.

Was he even experimented on? Is MODOK even an acronym for anything? Taking either or both of these away really strips the character of its meaning.
