Jason Momoa has recently wrapped filming on James Wan's highly anticipated Aquaman movie, and spoke at length about the film at a press junket for Justice League

During the junket, Momoa opened up about his character in Justice League and how he will evolve between that film and Aquaman.

You're going to see that I really wanted him to be that gruff thing, because he has to become king. If Justice League is like seeing him at his lowest, and not just his lowest, but this loneliness that I wanted about him, so when we get to Aquaman you know why he became that, and how he had been put in that lonely spot.

Momoa then goes on to reveal that a war between the land and sea will take place, and that he is not yet King of Atlantis while his villainous brother Orm most likely is. Could this movie have been influenced by Geoff Johns' 2012 event Throne of Atlantis?  With Johns having a producer and writer credit on Aquaman it is certainly possible.

And how he has to bring these two worlds together. Because you're going to see this ocean world, which we just pollute, and how do these people feel underwater with what the land does to the ocean. And this war that is going to come between the two, and I'm the only one that can link the two. He has to do it. He doesn't want to do it.

Surpassing Justice League, this moment in time is his call to become king. The only thing that can save Atlantis is me fighting my own brother. There's a big battle, and there's an epic [fight].

It has been confirmed that Aquaman will take place after the events of Justice League, but Momoa describes how the use of flashbacks will also depict events that occurred before Justice League. In addition, Momoa describes the giant scale of the movie's setting and some very cool sounding visuals.

In the story, we're going to see a couple different younger versions of me. And even before I was born, so you'll know where my mother came from, Atlantis. We've got to establish seven different kingdoms and the threat.

It's also a big road movie, because we travel all over the world. It's got that Star Wars quality of gigantic ships and guys riding sharks. It's going to be this whole world you've never seen before.

Aquaman stars Jason Momoa and is directed by James Wan. The movie will be released in theaters on December 21, 2018. Momoa can be seen first in Justice League, arriving in theatres on November 17, 2017.

Tbh I like the things he's saying about pollution and the surface world. That's a very interesting angle to cover in a superhero film. I'm sure I'm gonna love this movie even if the DCEU doesn't interest me that much.

Because it's underwater, I'm also hoping the epic final fight scene doesn't look like the rest of the DCEU final fight scenes because those are all ugly IMO. I hope the movie is really colourful too. The ocean has some of the most beautiful colours.

I'm not really a fan of Jason's casting as Aquaman and none of his looks so far interest me, but I'm sure I'll love him at the end.

I know the DCEU has sort of taken the "let's introduce this character in a deconstructed manner before we give them the version you know and love" which I don't really like but at least his arc sounds interesting. Hope it pays off.

I'm a little confused though. Does this movie take place before or after Justice League?

@RorMachine - Okay thanks, I'll keep that in mind. But before your message I had actually already revised it and believe it looked very presentable. Do you think it is ready to be re-published now?

@RorMachine - Also, how do I make text red in the headline? Just wrote up a Star Wars news story and want to make the "spoiler" tag red. Thanks

@Elayem - Oh right.. yeah it was mostly fine, just few formatting things that needed to be corrected etc. In future, avoid p tags at all costs! They push everything down and create too much space between paragraphs. Just us /b if you want to separate them of the space bar.

wouldn’t it be funny if WB decides to purchase 20th Century Fox’s movie studios instead?
