RUMOR: Every MCU Project Released Between AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY And SECRET WARS Will Have A Unique Twist

Following the news Doctor Doom intends to create Battleworld in Avengers: Doomsday, a new rumour claims that any projects released between that and Secret Wars will take place in the patchwork reality.

In the original Secret Wars comic book, The Beyonder took pieces from hundreds of worlds - including Earth - to create Battleworld, a planet used as his "arena" for an epic battle between countless Marvel heroes and villains.

In the 2015 version of the story, a series of Incursions destroyed the Multiverse and left only Earth-616 and the Ultimate Universe remaining. As those two worlds collided and exploded, Doctor Doom used the stolen powers of the Beyonders to create a new "Battleworld."

This version was a patchwork world made from remnants of destroyed realities and, when the Multiverse was eventually restored, Marvel Comics combined several timelines into one (bringing popular characters like Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen to Earth-616).

That's exactly how we anticipate Marvel Studios handling its own MCU reboot, this time with the intention being for the Fantastic Four and X-Men to make a permanent home on the next "Sacred Timeline."

Yesterday, we brought you word that Doctor Doom's plan in Avengers: Doomsday is to unify all universes in one place (Battleworld). Unsurprisingly, he intends to rule over it.

Now, according to scooper Daniel Richtman, this means, "Everything that comes out between Avengers 5 and 6 that isn't a prequel will be set on Battleworld. If Spider-Man 4 is Battleworld is would make for a VERY interesting Spidey movie."

The consequences of this are likely to be significant, even if there are only a couple of movies and TV shows released in that one year. However, it allows Marvel Studios to better establish Battleworld leading into Avengers: Secret Wars. You may recall this was also the plan when the ultimate Kang Variant was set to be revealed as The Beyonder.

Sony Pictures is supposedly eager for another Multiversal Spider-Man movie and, while we'd hoped for a street-level adventure, a Battleworld story could be the perfect opportunity to reunite the three Spider-Men.

"You’re the best damn fans in the world, and we’ve missed you," the Russo Brothers recently said of their MCU return. "When we made Avengers: Endgame we truly believed that it was the end of the road for us in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  We had put all the passion, love and imagination that we had into the Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, and then culminated it all with Endgame."

"All within a few years. We had spent everything we had creatively, and we left all our emotions on the floor.  But in the time since, we began to feel that there was perhaps one story where we could find a new narrative path forward. It’s the reason we fell in love with comic books in the first place. That story is Secret Wars."

We cannot express how excited we are to dive back into this world, and explore such a deliciously complex character like Victor Von Doom," the filmmakers added. "And there is no better friend or collaborator to do that with, [than] THE great [Robert Downey Jr.]."

@ItsNotForMeWahh - this sounds terrible! And Richtman had this "scoop" months ago lol ffs

@bobevanz - Yes it all sounds truly awful, but if there is any truth to the idea that we will be left with merged universes at the end, hopefully NONE of the characters from The Marvels will survive that merge. Especially smiling Ms Marvel and abominable Binary.

Isn’t a prequel? Are we about to get some prequels?
CerealKiller1
CerealKiller1 - 8/3/2024, 9:21 AM
@slickrickdesigns - Well all the films between IW and Endgame were prequels, so there’s every chance we get that again
Apophis71
Apophis71 - 8/3/2024, 9:38 AM
@slickrickdesigns - Kinda depends what you call a prequel, if Doomsday ends with the creation of Battleword then the next film released could start before that specific act but end at the same point in time or shortly after either on Earth prime (like Antman and Wasp did after Infinity War) or on an alternate timeline (such as where Photon ended up).

A full prequel is possible, like we had with Captain Marvel prior to Endgame to setup a required character for it but doubt it will be AS far back in time as that was even if it ends prior to the start of Doomsday (be that Earth prime or an alt timeline).

This was the rumour back when it was still Kang Dynasty. How is it getting peddled out again like it’s new?

@CerealKiller1 - because that’s what these scoopers do sadly.

It just feels like educated guesses most of the time

Oh cool, so Marvel can ramble on and on about how Doomsday is its own movie just like Infinity War wasn’t, when it really just has the bad guy winning in the end and is obviously just Part 1.

Wait , was this confirmed or are we again treating a rumor as fact?.

Anyway , this seems like it could be interesting but also a waste for a world that would be done in a years time aswell (if you are gonna do it then have it be special presentations instead).

Also I really hope Spidey 4 isn’t set during this but after because while I know HC was a street level Spidey film to an extent , I still want a honest to goodness one again especially given how perfectly setup it was at the end of NWH imo.

@TheVisionary25 - I would strongly suspect, considering where things were left off with prior films, the most likely two between the Avengers films would be Dr Strange 3 (as he went into Dormammu's dimenstion thus not on Earth prime) and an Xmen film where Photon ended up.

I mean multiple timeline we visit may be getting wiped out, including 616 across four films (F4's, Doomsday, Xmen's and any featured in a DS4) but the point more would be to fully establish characters that will play major roles in Secret Wars and could end up on Earth Prime after.

I do agree that I want SM4 to be a grounded NYC story before Doomsday (his films could be added still in a Sony slot hence not included in the Disney ones) featuring DD against Kingpin and crew and don't want either of the other two Spider-Men to feature beyond a highly likely end credit of them as their respective worlds are wiped out due to incursions.

@Apophis71 - I do like the idea of fleshing out variants that will be important to Secret Wars before then but again , I feel like a special presentation might be able to do that instead of a film or show

@AllsGood - Marvel IMO screwed the MCU with Kang and this phase. Kang never felt like a threat.

@AllsGood - Yep, and IMO he was the worst villain because he was lame in the comics and they got an even lamer actor to play the role.

The idea of solo films taking place on Battleworld is cool, but I still would prefer Spidey 4 be street level
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 8/3/2024, 11:26 AM
@LeonNova - This could be a way of doing both maybe.

It could be set in an urban Arachnia in which all the NY-based Spidey characters exist and could tell a grounded and gritty crime story, with Kingpin as the Mayor still, like he was on Earth 199999.

The difference would be that there would be many Spider-Men in this city, including Tobey and Andrew. They'd probably all have a history with one another and be friends.

@LeonNova - wait, you wait spiderman that's about personal and relatable stakes and motivations? The thing that makes spider-man the best character, imo.

That'd be nice, but it seems they will keep bleeding the multiverse saga dry. Nostalgia is a much easier sell.

@LeonNova - battleworld components can come from any reality even Spidey's current New York. So we can have street level, amped up, that doesn't ultimately affect 616 NY.
IronDean2099
IronDean2099 - 8/3/2024, 9:55 AM
As much as I want a street level Spidey 4 with Kingpin and Daredevil, this would make it very easy to bring back the other two Spideys. Maybe even more.

I always thinking ever since No Way Home, and the announcement of Secret Wars, that they would do a Raimi Spider-Man 4, just set in his own New York in Battleworld. Then there would be a post credit of Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield recruiting Tobey to help overthrow Doom, but without the stinger you could watch it as the conclusion of the Raimi series.

Spider-man vs. Venom set in a Battleworld Manhattan ruled by Kingpin? Wolverine vs. Hulk set in a Canadian wilderness run by Department H (or Weapon X), crawling with Wendigo's on Battleworld? Has potential... just saying.
