AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - This Hero Very Nearly Teamed Up With Iron Man On Titan Instead Of Spider-Man

Spider-Man ended up joining Iron Man and a number of other heroes on Titan in Avengers: Infinity War but the movie's screenwriters have now revealed that they originally had someone very different in mind.

It was confirmed relatively early on in the marketing campaign for Avengers: Infinity War that Spider-Man would join the likes of Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Star-Lord on Titan but it turns out that things could have been very different. In an earlier draft of the screenplay, it was Anthony Mackie's Falcon who was going to Tony Stark on his trip into outer space (which would've been fun to see).

"There was one [version] where Spider-Man did not go to space, and where Falcon went to space," writer Christopher Markus says. "And it was fun, it was interesting, it’s always great to have those guys in various situations and there was a lot to do with them in both situations, but we weren’t getting as much emotion as we could if we brought them back to people who know them."

The Falcon didn't end up having the biggest role in Avengers: Infinity War and it definitely would have been a lot of fun seeing him interact with Iron Man following the events of Captain America: Civil War

Where that would have left Spider-Man is hard to say but based on how things ultimately ended up playing out, it's fair to say the movie's writers made the right decision. What do you guys think?

I would have found THAT very intriguing. We’ve seen the Stark/Parker dynamic already. And while it was certainly impactful given the outcome of the film, the totally out of left field paring of Falcon and Iron Man would have been really cool.

@deepee3 - Tony: "I'm sorry, who are you?"

Sam: "Come on dude, I'm... I'm Falcon."

@deepee3 - I do too but the problem would've been how Falcon would've been able to breath when heading to space Spiderman was saved by the IronSpider suit. Falcon I doubt would have a breathing Aparathis in his suit out of nowhere. Caps team been living with very limited technology since Cival War

@deepee3 - gotta say, this seems way out in left field, falcons don't fly well in space.

You've never heard of the Millennium Falcon? It's the ship that made the Kessel Run is less than twelve parsecs.

There would be an interesting angle about the friction between falcon and ironman from civil war but this provided the most emotional connection and I believe was the right move.

Would've preferred that. Last time Spidey met Cap he saw him as a bad guy but in this movie he could've gotten to know Cap and see how he really is.

That'd have been a very different, unexplored dynamic. Fun to think about, but ultimately Spidey's presence had a bigger emotional impact.

Not a big fan of Falcon, so i'm glad it didn't happen.
Plus Spidey's death yo...

Still cant believe I actually watched a movie where Spider-man fight Thanos alongside Iron Man, Doctor Strange and Mr Lord in outer space.

It would have been enjoyable to see Spidey's reaction to Wakanda and interact with T'Challa and Cap but ultimately this change was for the better.

This would've been real interesting tbh. We've never really seen those two interact before.

And Spidey going with Banner to Wakanda would've been so dope. It would've been more characteristic for Peter to say, "Haha. You guys are so screwed!" when Thor came down into the fight.

@KWilly - Peter hasn't really met thor, and it makes more sense for banner to say it that after raganorock.

Falcon would have been a better choice and emphasise the dynamic between them after the divide in Civil War. Personally was getting rather bored of the 'Mister Stark' dynamic of his interactions with Spider-man after Homecoming and Infinity War just dragged that on.

@Scarilian - Yeah but the Aliens scenario would not have occurred.

Spider-Man would have looked pretty silly fighting in Wakanda.all that open field and not a single thing to swing from in sight.
CaptainElrond

@IronGenesis - True but people wondered if he would look silly fighting in space.

Still, would have been interesting to see him in a jungle envrioment.

@IronGenesis - That's true. The airport fight scene was hard enough.

@KWilly - I don’t doubt they would have gotten creative. Like in CW. But SP Homecoming even made that joke of Pete being in a park.

This would've robbed us of Spider-Man's death, but would've given us more Falcon and actual interactions between Spider Man and Cap/Shuri/Widow/Banner/Rocket....I'm glad we got what we got but the thought is interesting
