AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Directors Shed Some Light On Why Thor Didn't Take Down [SPOILER]

Avengers: Infinity War left Earth's Mightiest Heroes with some big decisions to make and Joe and Anthony Russo have now shed some light on why Thor didn't make a certain fateful decision in the movie.

Since the release of Avengers: Infinity War, fans have been taking aim at Star-Lord by blaming him for Thanos being able to wipe out half the universe with a snap of his fingers. After all, had he kept his emotions in check, the Mad Titan never would have made it to Wakanda and enacted his horrifying plan. Well, Joe Russo has now said that fans should probably hold Thor every bit as responsible.

"I would argue that the fan base could be equally upset with Thor, who chose to throw that axe into Thanos' chest and not his head," he reveals. "Because he wanted to tell Thanos that he got his revenge." It's true that the God of Thunder should have probably aimed for the Mad Titan's head rather than rubbing in the fact he had made good on his promise to make the villain pay for his actions.

"Had he gone for a kill shot, that snap would not have happened. These are choices that characters who are feeling immense pain make and hopefully, the audience can learn to empathize with those characters because they can grow through stories," Joe added. "Stories can teach us things and that we should try to see every choice from the perspective of the character that made the choice."

Going back to Star-Lord, the Russos said that there's no chance he'll get to redeem himself in Avengers 4 "because he is dead." That hurts! Do you think these heroes ended up making the wrong decisions?

meh I was hoping they would say why he doesn't die anyway. Thor just split open his entire chest, and thanos shrugs it off with no explanation, pops a squat in his favorite spot and theres not even a mark. I thought for a minute that he used the reality stone to show thor winning as a distraction to give him time to snap his fingers, but there was no red aura to hint at that. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but does anyone have an explanation why Thanos doesnt have a giant hole in is chest or any mark in his armor at the end?

@hartley07 - I would chalk it up to him being alive enough snap his fingers [not that difficult] and subsequently telpeort away and heal/fix himself using the remaining juice in the gauntlet.

@hartley07 - Because the infinity guantlet, with all the stones, makes you omnipotent. Healing a wound to the chest or repair his clothes is pretty much the most basic thing you can do with the guantlet..

(Spoilers??) In the comics Thanos withstands MUCH stronger forces than Thor's hammer or axe.
