AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Passes IRON MAN 3's $1.2 Billion Haul But Can It Really Top $2 Billion Worldwide?

The latest numbers for Avengers: Infinity War are here and the Marvel Studios movie has now passed $1.226 billion worldwide, topping Iron Man 3's $1.215 billion haul and making it the 14th biggest release in history. Currently, analysts believe it will pass $1.6 billion by Sunday and that puts it one step closer to becoming the first summer blockbuster to reach $2 billion. The question is, can it reach that?

It's hard to say right now but it hinges on its ability to generate 65% of its global gross overseas in the weeks ahead, something which is doable when you consider the fact Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story will more than likely earn most of what makes up their respective worldwide box office hauls in North America. China will also play a role in Avengers: Infinity War's chances of reaching $1 billion.

Either way, the Russo Brothers helmed release is a hit and it's been reported that it will generate a huge $600 million profit for the studio. "The superhero genre — that’s a lazy term," Joe says of what makes these movies special. "I think as Marvel continues to move forward, their stories will transcend genre and continue to move in different directions. Even though the IP source is comics, tone and genre will move them away from that." How much do you think Infinity War will gross?

I think that it is falling in the USA Box Office.

BLACK PANTHER gets $693,477,273 and INFINITY WAR just $461,390,925.
It´s a huge difference

There are 10 movie genres in Save the Cat (and make no mistake about it, these movies are ALL based on Save the Cat templates), and most of the Marvel films are still firmly grounded in the superhero genre.

Calling it now. This film will make over 2 billion. Think about it. It's only been out what? Two weeks? And already it's 1.2 billion and still hasn't been released in some markets. Take into account the many fans seeing it 2x, 3x, 4x, this film will cross 2 billion no problem.
