AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Promo Art Offers Another Spoilery Look At That Hulk Moment NOT In The Movie

Avengers: Infinity War may not have undergone Justice League level reshoots but it appears as if at least some big changes were made based on more promo art teasing some different plans for The Hulk...

Avengers: Infinity War featured a Bruce Banner who was unable to transform into The Hulk. While many fans initially theorised that he was having some performance issues related to Thor: Ragnarok (as in becoming the Jade Giant one more time would lead to his demise), it turns out that the Green Goliath simply didn't want to come out to play after receiving a nasty beating from the Mad Titan.

However, it appears as if Joe and Anthony Russo had different plans once upon a time because following the release of a Funko Pop figure showing The Hulk smashing his way out of the Hulkbuster armour, we now have some hi-res promo art featuring an artist's interpretation of what would have no doubt been a key moment in the movie. The question is, why did the filmmakers choose to cut it?

Well, for starters, there's nothing to say this was ever in Avengers: Infinity War; it could have been an early idea which was sent to the marketing teams but never went any further than that. Then again, The Hulk was in the trailers during that battle in Wakanda and those final shots of Banner in the Hulkbuster armour looked like they could have been added in reshoots. What do you guys think?

Smash into action and HULK OUT with HULK OUT HULKBUSTER figure! Kids can bulk up their 12-inch HULK figure by assembling armor pieces to transform him into a 13.5-inch HULKBUSTER. Bust HULK out the HULKBUSTER armor by pressing the buttons on the back of the figure and sending the armor pieces flying. Features movie-inspired HULK and HULKBUSTER phrases, smashing fist action, light-up eyes and battle sound effects. Includes armor and figure. Requires 2 AA batteries, included. Available at most major retailers and on HasbroToyShop.com.

They obviously decided that the return of the Hulk was a moment best served in A4. Must have been a late decision though.

@TheManWithoutFear - Yeah, it seems they changed his arc a bit in reshoots, based on the iffy CGI when he takes off his hulkbuster helmet toward the end of the film and other various HUDs when he is inside the Hulkbuster.

I think they're saving the final conflict for A4, and I'm hoping it leads to Banner and Hulk being separated as two people, like they were for awhile in the comics.

@L0RDbuckethead - separation would be a dumb thing they have to learn to work together that is always the harder path but yes I do hope they beat the living hell out of Thanos

@TheManWithoutFear - "Late" by movie making standards, of course. I think they didn't want to step on Thor's cape, which was a wise choice. That was one hell of an entrance he made!

@MarkV - Agreed. The only thing that would have made it better was if we had gotten a "FOR ASGARD!!!" but that's nit-picking at this point.

@RocknRolla - but you kinda just proved my point with your comment. They need to be completely seperated first in order to learn to work together to save the day.

I'm not saying that will definitely happen - it's just what I want to happen - and I think it would show the most progression for Hulk/Banner as a character to redeem him in such a way that he can greatly assist in defeating Thanos in A4.

@L0RDbuckethead - It might be very cool to see them fighting side by side. The Hulk and Banner in the Hulkbuster suit.

@Akoni - My thoughts exactly.

@MarkV - I thought about the whole ‘keeping the Hulk out of the battle to enhance Thor’s entrance,’ and I think there’s an element of that, but I think it’s really more to show that even having Banner’s life at stake wasn’t enough to bring the Hulk out- so what will finally do it?

Also, this is part of a three-picture story arc for Hulk/Banner. Be interesting to see where they’re going with this.

@L0RDbuckethead - YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@TheManWithoutFear - Hulk not Hulking out gets a pass. But Quill was hands down responsible for everything that went sideways. So glad his ass perished.

I'm so glad Rocket made it. He deff deserves better than Quill's dumbass.

I'm surprised they released this Funko POP!, since it was cut from the film. I definitely ordered one, regardless.

I wish I wouldn't have bought the other Infinity War Hulkbuster POP! already though... Oh well. What's an extra $30?

@L0RDbuckethead - Since they were filming things together and even the cast said they weren't sure if a scene was in this one or Avengers 4, MAYBE it actually takes place in the next movie when Hulk FREAKS THE HELL OUT!!!
L0RDbuckethead
L0RDbuckethead - 5/1/2018, 5:56 PM
@Akoni - That could be a possibility... There's a reason IW and A4 were filmed back-to-back.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 5/1/2018, 7:44 PM
@Akoni - I'm sure that's what they did with Hawkeye too. They cut his minor A3 scenes to give him a huge arc like Thor had in A3 for A4.

@BlackBeltJones - hell yeah. Thanos used some type of intergalactic krav maga on the Hulk.

@MyCoolYoung - Thanos approached Hulk like he was Ty Lee from Avatar. Lawd this man hit all his weak points.

Maybe that scene will be in part 4

I'm still not sure how to feel about it not being in the movie.

Am I the only one who thinks this scene is actually in Avengers 4? That's a lot of money for CGI that ended up not being in the movie...Seems like this might be after they redo the Waianae fight using the time stone.

@PeterStarker -
Makes a lot of sense - i can kind of imagine the same sort of scenario happening up until Thor is about to arrive and instead we also see the arrival of Valkyrie, Korg, Captain Marvel, etc...
