AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Writers Would Like To Return For More Marvel Films After AVENGERS 4
It seems the Russo Brothers aren't the only ones hoping to stick around in the MCU, as the writers for Avengers: Infinity War, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, hope to be involved in further films.
Ever since the duo signed on to write Captain America: The First Avenger, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, have had a significant role in forming Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe. This includes writing all three Captain America films, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, which will cap off the first three phases of the MCU.
However, while the writers have received a lot of praise for their work, their future at Marvel Studios remains unclear. Now, in a recent interview, the duo revealed that though there aren’t any plans for them to return they would like to stay involved in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“If it is, we're pretty happy with it. Because boy, Avengers 4, if anything, is better than what you just saw.” McFeely told The Hollywood Report when asked whether Avengers 4 would be their swan song.
While this comment reveals that McFeely and his writing partner would gladly accept Avengers 4 as the end of their time at Marvel, the screenwriter did go on to explain that they would also like to return to the MCU in the future:
“We're very pleased with how it's shaping up. We started this new company. We would love to go back to Marvel at some point, if they'll have us. But we have this weird, new job where we get to help out a lot of other projects and write our own. It's really sort of a dream scenario. If it doesn't kill us, we'd like to try it for a while.”
The Marvel screenwriters aren’t the only ones to express interest in returning for future Marvel films, as the directors of Infinity War and Avengers 4, Joe and Anthony Russo, recently expressed a similar sentiment.
Of course, the statement from the writer strongly suggests any possible return won’t happen anytime soon, as they will be focusing pm their own company and more original content. Still, while we may not have any new comic book films from the writers to look forward to for a while, we can still expect to see other projects from the duo.
