The last time we saw Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme was in Thor: Ragnarok last November and despite the fact that the hero is so popular, there's still no word on the Doctor Strange sequel. On the plus side, the character will play a key role in Avengers: Infinity War and the British actor is clearly excited about working alongside Robert Downey Jr. based on these comments from a new interview.

"I got on very well with Robert Downey Jr. He’s the most inclusive leading man, and generous to a fault, and just a pleasure to be around. It’s a very happy set when RDJ’s on it, and that goes for everyone, not just the actors. He’s funny, he’s quick, he’s so light on his feet, such a smart-thinking actor. It’s quite something to watch people like RDJ, who have been doing it so brilliantly for so long, in their prime. It’s a really really nice thing to be on the set, like I said, but it’s a really really lovely thing to watch him work and be part of that work as well."

As for the relationship between Stephen Strange and Tony Stark in the superhero ensemble, Cumberbatch added: "There’s a lot of interesting dynamic. They don’t always attract. So, sparks will hopefully fly, but at the same time, they’re united by a purpose that’s bigger than either of them, so they get their game on, put it that way. But, yeah, there are a few one-liners along the way."

That should be a lot of fun to see play out, especially if their dynamic is even half as good as the one shared by their comic book counterparts (it's also easy to imagine the two Sherlocks chewing scenery together). How much time they'll get to spend together obviously remains to be seen, though.

Going back to Doctor Strange 2, Cumberbatch was asked directly if he's getting ready to shoot the sequel and had an answer which is sure to disappoint fans. "Not at the moment, no. The masterplan is continually in flux, so it would be out of order for me to speculate." With any luck, Marvel's Phase 4 plans will become clear soon and the Sorcerer Supreme will hopefully be a major part of them.

We all know Dr Strange 2 is happening, so no need to worry. Feige has even talked about it. Looking forward to round 2, with Derrickson coming back to the helm.

Looking forward to a second one, especially if Derrickson gets to go more horror-esque with it (Nightmare would be a great fit for that).
