Chris Evans Says He's Open To Playing Captain America Beyond INFINITY WAR

In a new interview, Chris Evans indicates he's open to staying on in the role of Captain America beyond his six-film contract with Marvel. Now that Evans is past the mid-point of his contract, he says, "It almost feels like it's gone by a bit too quick."

Chris Evans is open to carrying Captain America's shield beyond Avengers: Infinity War, he says in a new interview, if Marvel is interested in him returning. "I think it's almost like high school. You're kind of always looking ahead, about when you'll graduate, but then when graduation day arrives you kind of don't want to leave," Evans said. "I AM gonna try and focus on directing a bit more, but by no means am I done acting. And if they'd have me back, yeah, I'd probably consider it."

Elsewhere in the article, Evans indicated he has become more comfortable in the role and will be sad to see it come to an end. "It sounds silly to say this but it really is growing on me," he said. "It's kind of at the point where you're almost sad to see the end coming around the corner in the next couple of years."

Last year, while promoting Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Evans was quoted by Variety as saying he was ready to leave acting behind at the end of his six-film contract with Marvel. In that article, he was asked when he expected to be done with the role. At the time, Evans said: "I bet by 2017, I’ll be done. That sounds so far away."

That's great news. Going forward, he really only has to do guest appearances and show up in Avengers and event films.

Maybe do another solo film several years down the road. A bit of an "older" cap movie.

Maybe Evans is trying to make nice with Marvel so he can potentially direct a future Marvel film. That might be very interesting, especially if he's picked up lessons from the Russo brothers.

Just saying.

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evans is awesome as Cap, would love to see more Cap stories played out, I wonder if something similar to Reborn could happen in the MCU....

The Red Skull needs to return too, I want to see the Red Skull in modern times

I love it. Marvel has this all planned and I'm not going to believe for a second that I know what's gonna happen, but if they off Cap in Civil War and have Bucky take over in Infinity War, it'd be really cool to see Chris reclaim the mantle in Captain America 4. I love Evans as a human and actor. He's so humble and laid back. I have yet to see a bad movie he's done. His Captain America has become a more iconic take than RDJ's Stark.

I'd like Evans to tackle a smaller MCU story. I don't know who else Marvel would want to bring out, but maybe a Daredevil theatrical, after several Netflix seasons.

Or that Runaways movie that's on the back burner.

Or -- you know what I just thought of? Wouldn't it be cool if Marvel did a film in the MCU that's not about a superhero? Like, if they focused a politician having to navigate the world of superheroes? Or like a down and out police officer who feels like he or she just can't compete, like s/he has to deal with her or his kid looking up to superheroes and not him or her?

Like an "indie" MCU film.

He should direct a Marvel movie.
Maybe something of smaller scale, like a Daredevil or Iron Fist movie.
