Heading into Avengers: Infinity War, the two biggest questions fans have are a) where is the Soul Stone and b) where the heck is Hawkeye? The archer played by Jeremy Renner has been absent from all marketing materials and while the Russo Brothers have promised that he has an important role to play, it looks like the character is being left on the shelf for the vast majority of this epic adventure.
During a red carpet fan event in Singapore, the cast and crew of the movie were asked about which of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's heroes stand the greatest chance of defeating Thanos and Robert Downey Jr. had a pretty brilliant answer. "Here's my guess - because I haven't read the script [Laughter]. Because Jeremy Renner is not in the poster, I think he's the only one that can beat Thanos! I think it's Hawkeye! [Cheers] No, I think it's Jeremy: only Jeremy can defeat him [laughs]."
We'll have to wait and see whether or not Clint Barton really does have a key role to play in stopping the Mad Titan. However, clearly enjoying the chance to tease fans, Joe Russo added: "Hawkeye IS Thanos!" These comments are unlikely to placate fans but with a little over a week to go until Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters, we'll soon find out what's in store for the popular hero...
