AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY Writer Teases Potential Roles For Letitia Wright & Florence Pugh

Though he couldn't outright confirm that they'd appear, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer Jeff Loveness has expressed excitement at getting the opportunity to work with Florence Pugh and Letitia Wright.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness has been doing the press rounds to promote the latest Marvel Studios adventure, but talk (understandably) tends to turn to his script for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Loveness has already mentioned certain characters that "probably" won't appear (more here), and has now hinted at a couple of heroes that most likely will factor into the next big MCU event film.

While chatting to the Phase Zero podcast, Loveness started by choosing his words carefully when asked about the characters he's excited to write for in The Kang Dynasty, but by mentioning certain actors, he's basically let the cat(s) out of the bag!

“I can’t say specifically," he began. "I think I’d get in trouble. I gotta get better at talking to the Internet. But just, characters that we like, I mean, I think we’re excited for the actors more than even the characters right now. Because, we have this really good crop of performers. We got Florence Pugh, and Jonathan Majors, and Letitia Wright. We’ve got such a deep bench of really good actors. Everyone’s gonna get their chance to shine. I can’t say who. I can’t say when they will shine. But I think we’ve got a deep bench, and it’s fun to finally put everybody into the game.”

We pretty much assumed that the new Black Panther would be involved in The Kang Dynasty, anyway, and Yelena Belova is expected to take on a leadership role in The Thunderbolts, who will likely play a significant part in combatting The Conqueror's Variants themselves.

Still, it's interesting to learn which specific characters Loveness is most looking forward to writing for.

Rumors and supposed "leaks" aside, we really don't know what to expect from the culmination of The Multiverse Saga, but the upcoming Disney+ shows should give us a better idea.

Well, if you think about it there are some characters who deal with global/universal/multiuniversal threats that it makes sense to include (like the Avengers, Spidey (even though he's supposed to be more street level now), the Wakandans, Namor, the F4, etc. whom it would make sense to be included in "A:KD" and definitely in "A:SW". Others it just doesn't make sense, like a lot of the supernatural-based characters like Man-Thing, Elsa Bloodstone, etc. Then you have the ones that are kinda on the fence that could or could not show up like DD, Blade, etc. that are not usually the type who get involved in these big "multiverse-ending events" but could, although you'd kind have to wonder how effective the likes of Blade and DD would be compared to someone like Thor or the Hulk.

Either way, I agree with some earlier statements that I'd HATE to be the one deciding who's in and who's out (although I'm sure that it's not just up to Jeff and there's a "Counsel of Marvel Kangs" including "Kevin Immortus" helping to make those calls.

First off, they should delay everything at least a year.

Kang Dynasty (2026) should be the final stand of the legacy heroes along with Shang Chi and some of the Eternals. These are the characters aware of the primary threat and we've had it teased in Shang Chi's post credit scene that they'd be the focus.

Secret Wars Part 1 (2027) would be the surviving, primarily young and new heroes trying to put the pieces back together, teaming up with surviving multiverse variants of heroes. Doctor Strange, Cassie, America Chavez and a few others managed to find ways to dodge the destruction of the multiverse. The main legacy character here would be Thor, who will look like Unworthy Thor at this point having lost his arm and lost 'Love' his daughter to the Incursion. The film would end with the main Kang calling himself 'The Beyonder' killing Thor and gaining control over the entity Eternity which he uses to rewrite reality.

Secret Wars Part 2/Eternity Wars (2028) The Beyonder has effectively created a battleworld and is gloating, he's brought heroes from all over the multiverse together to fight for his amusement. The younger heroes end up effectively forming a rebellion by allying with heroes and villains to defeat the Beyonder and in the process end up meeting with Eternity who is revealed as the One Above All who restores the universe. In this new universe the older heroes are rebooted in some form, the X-Men exist and a bunch of other changes such as the arrival of the MCU versions of Norman Osborn who is the leader of the Avengers (Teasing Dark Reign, Dark Avengers, Seige, future Spider-man storylines, etc...)

@StSteven - it may not make sense for man thing to be in secret wars but if they adapt the Hickman version there’s definitely a way to bring him in but I feel like secret wars isn’t going to be anything like either comic line.

@Scarilian - Yeah, I agree that they should sort of "stretch the accordion out" (if that makes sense) for the Multiverse Saga at this point if they want to do everything (or most of it) they way that they originally had planned. I had semi-joked before in another post that they should just refer to Phase 4 as the "Chapek Saga" (as I think he was the main (not the ONLY) culprit for the shortcomings of that phase, and really make Phases 5, 6, & 7 the Multiverse Saga proper, which I have a good feeling (let's call it my "Steven Tingle") they are going to do, by spacing things out more and giving them more room to be fully developed, i.e. "breathe". So don't be surprised if things do get moved around and rearranged while they get everything back on track they way that Kevin & Co. wants to. And it's only natural that when you have a driving force within a huge company that starts setting things in motion that end up driving into the wrong direction, you put an immediate stop to it and deal with the fallout, then steady the ship (which seem like what Marvel is doing, but time will tell).

Regarding your above ideas on how to handle "A:KD" and "A:SW", I think it's all complete crap and I'm angry at myself for wasting the time for every bothering to read them... 😉.

Seriously, you have A LOT of great ideas there and I'd like to see a lot of that. I think that once again the close proximity of "A:KD" and "A:SW" are due to the "Chapek effect" (sorry to sound like a broken record), and that they really should put more distance between the two movies, as well as like you suggested splitting up "A:SW" into two movies. But what you proposed does sound pretty damn epic (and I don't use that word lightly).

Overall, we'll all just have to sit tight and see how Marvel manages things moving forward, especially now that it seems Kevin & Co. have more control again. Hoping for the best. Not that I was personally disappointed with anything in Phase 4, but I know that they can do better, so I'm looking forward to it.

@Antitrollpatrol - Yeah, we'll see how much they include the "fringe" characters in the main Marvel "high impact" stories. You know, in the comics, sure they do big giant cross-overs where everybody and their superpowers brother comes to play, which is all good and fine, but that's usually the big teams and other heavy hitters.

Then, sometimes they have an event where it focuses more on a particular corner of the comics, like a supernatural event that uses the "Midnight Sons" characters (plus Wolverine because the guy literally has to be in EVERY f**king cross-over event), or a magic-based event with DR. Strange, et al, (and f**king wolverine again!). Otherwise it seems that in general the fringe genre characters usually tend to stick to their corners of the comics universe and I'd like to see that in the MCU personally. Like, if you're going to include MT, WWbN, Elsa, etc. in a movie, it should be because it fits the narrative of the movie and not just because you want to dig those action figures out of your toy box for a big huge *pew pew* *slam bang* *pow pow*. So hopefully Jeff Loveness is taking all that into consideration while he's hammering out the "A:KD" script.

That all said, I'll be willing to accept some (minor) plot missteps with "A:KD" when it comes to how the characters are handled, BUT if they f**k up "A:SW", there will be blood (most likely mine as I'm beating my head against the wall going "But? But? But? HOW could they f**k up THAT character of all characters? And HOW could they NOT include THAT character?!? And..."

Well, you get my point.
