Hugh Jackman Weighs In On The Disney/Fox Deal And Whether He'll Suit Up As Wolverine To Join THE AVENGERS

With rumours swirling that Hugh Jackman could return as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor has now weighed in on the possible deal between Disney and Fox and what that means for him...

Hugh Jackman is well aware that Disney is considering purchasing 20th Century Fox's film and TV divisions but it appears as if those recent claims he might return as Wolverine were a tad premature. In the video below, the Australian actor was asked for his thoughts on the deal and while it's clearly made him at least consider coming back to the role one day, he still seems happy to pass on the mantle.

"It’s interesting because for the whole 17 years I kept thinking that would be so great, like I would love to see, particularly, Iron Man and the Hulk and Wolverine together. And every time I saw an Avengers movie I could just see Wolverine in the middle of all of them like punching them all on the head. But it was like, “Oh well, that’s not gonna happen,” and it was interesting just when I first saw that headline — it was just the possibility of it and who knows what’s gonna happen, obviously — I was like, “Hang on!” But I think, unfortunately, the ship has sailed for me, but for someone else I would like to see Wolverine in there."

It's worth noting that the deal hasn't been finalised as of yet and if Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige were to sit down in a room with Jackman, it's feasible he could convince him to come out of retirement! The only problem with that is that Marvel will more than likely want to start from scratch when they bring the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, something the actor alludes to here.

What do you guys think could happen with Wolverine in the MCU? Would you like to see Jackman put the claws back on? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

@TheBlueMorpho - Would be a great introduction to the MCU version. I'd settle for a team up with the howling commandos if Chris Evans' contract is up.

@TheBlueMorpho - Set in WWII ? Sounds awesome. Of course, they'd have to find a reason why he wasn't in TFA or mentioned at any point (including the Cap museum exhibition), but I'm ok with some light retconning for this.

@MiopTop -

Doesn't have to be entirely set in WWII. But there should be flashbacks that inform on the present situation they would be in.

Jackman's Wolverine brings baggage that Disney will be looking to dump.
So, no, find a new Wolverine.

LOL! I just heard a lot of hearts break. Anyways when the deal does happen it will be a year to two years before we see some of these characters in the MCU.
