Louis Leterrier recently revealed that he was on Marvel's list of guys to direct The Avengers, being up against much bigger names. Now The Incredible Hulk director talks with MTV's Rick Marshall on the subject.

"With 'Avengers' it would be a little different, because a lot of the cast would have been casted by different directors from other movies, but you can still bring everybody together," says Louis.

Marvel Freshman: I think Marvel wants a bigger name, just to give the film more credibility, and someone can handle multiple diverse characters in one film, story. I say stick with who you know, and give louis the job. This film could be the peak of his career with great films already under his belt.

I'm really hoping that he gets this. The Incredible Hulk showed that the guy can pull off epic fight scenes when it comes to the CGI side of things while the live action side was just as brilliantly done! :)

MF: Any of yout Twitter contacts have a clue when we'll be getting the Cap casting news? I'm sure I saw you say yesterday that it might be today!

Guys, check out my WANTED Fan Cast!!! Just click the link!!!

Unfortunately nothing really new revealed here but I would give it to him if Clash has some decent dramatic scenes. That is the one area I would like to see him improve on.

tough task to take on. You have to leverage each character in their own right. Kind of like LOTR or something... ..

Your kidding yourself if you think MARVEL isn't waiting to see how Clash of the Titans turns out....he surely won't be offered the job before that...

The Incredible Hulk was amazing. It just felt like a Hulk film, though there were only one film before to compare to. A new tone would be great, but I can definitely see the TIH's tone for The Avengers & would accept it.

Unrelated: Hey guys I'm reading my friend's copy of the Iron Man 2 novel, and all I can say is, this film will be Marvel's Dark Knight.

He'd be a pretty good choice, he's a little light on drama and depth, but with a good script (even though it's being penned by Zak Penn) he could maybe pull it off. But I definitely think there are better choices.

I would like to see Peter Jackson direct. I mean he definitely has a handle on the fantasy aspect and how to draw you into the story. The CGI would be be top notch. He can handle an cast and he gets good performances out of the actors. Most notably Sean Austin in LOTR. Plus he thinks out of the box and that cant hurt.

I enjoyed The Incredible Hulk, and would be willing to give Leterrier a crack at the Avengers. He'd probably do as good a job as anyone.

I think he could be good but I'm holding off judgement on this till I see Clash of the Titans. I liked Incredible Hulk but I want to see what his most recent work is like. The good thing is he's obviously enthusiastic for the project and that's important. Fav said he'd be happy to be involved as more a producer role for avengers didn't he? So I think that could work well, Leterrier directing with Favereau advising. I don't think a "big name" directer would necessarily be in the best interest of the film with all these characters coming from different films and different directers you need someone one who recognises that and accepts it and pulls them all together rather than someone more interested in putting their own stamp on it

I still wanna see Alfonso Cuarón have a crack at the Avengers. He's my top choice at the moment!! :o)

Great story teller, great visually, and great at handling ensemble casts. Also done franchise type work before.

Can't think of anyone else just yet - must give it more thought!!

I'll wait until after I see clash of the titans before I make a decision on that. I loved TIH, but thats the only one of his films I've seen.

@Anil...I hear ya. And I think having Fav, Leterier, Johnson, Branagh and the guys from Marvel Studios all creatively producing is essential. It will all help to create a consistant universe.

BUT I think it is still important to get a new sensibility and passion from some new blood. Maybe Cuarón ain't the man but someone new is pretty healthy bringing with them with fresh ideas.

Of course I accept that alot people might not be up for Cuarón, which is cool. Then again you ain't heard my idea on who I would like cast for a Dr Strange film!!

Leterrier would be IDEAL for this film behind Favreau. Snyder's style wouldn't fit Avengers' better then Leterrier's.

I agree with most on this thread - I say see how the drama comes out in Clash, and if it's done well give him the job. Every single second of The Avengers is going to be so damn important, in terms of balancing character development, story, action and set pieces, because we have so many titanic talents and performances to deal with. Not saying anything most of you don't know here, but if Clash is done very very well - it's in a way analogous to what needs to be done with The Avengers.

Shit, if he can do everybody up against Zeus, he can do everybody up against Thor.

IRON MAN: Kicked Ass

INCREDIBLE HULK: Kicked Ass

IRON MAN 2: WILL KICK MORE ASS

THOR: WILL KICKETH OF MUCH ASS

CAPTAIN AMERICA: will suck ass because marvel let some
director [frick] it up with a mediocre casting decision

AVENGERS: GETS ITS ASS KICKED WAAAAY BACK UNTIL MARVEL HAS TIME TO DO A REBOOT OF CAPTAIN AMERICA

CAPTAIN AMERICA the 1st AVENGER reboot directed by Louis Leterrier staring GARRET HEDLUND goes down in history as the most kick ass CBM of all time surpassing even the dark knight

many compare the new movie to saving private ryan but this time with a cape on. and praise the director for his ability to capture the grittiness of war while balancing and seamlessly blending in the comic book roots of the story and character.... however because of the poor reviews of the 2011 captain america fiasco (which nearly ended marvel studios) starring chris evans directed by joe johnston many movie goers were hessitant to see this new adaption leading to lackluster ticket sales in the first week even with the spectacular reviews....

AND THEN I WOKE UP
