Could Court of Owls Be The Big Villain In THE BATMAN?

Could Court of Owls Be The Big Villain In THE BATMAN?

Besides the Penguin and the Riddler the Dark Knight could also face another (and much bigger) antagonist in his next Bigscreen-Adventure

Yesterdays and long anticipated Event DC FANDOME delivered us with many First Looks of upcoming DC-Features as in Films, TV Shows and Video Games. And in that round of course one certain and long awaited teser must not me missing: the first trailer for Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN which gives us a first glimpse as Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader in action.

While some fans already spotted some nice easter eggs in the other contents, the first footage of the film might reveal something much bigger than just a reference. In the trailer around 0:42 we see a "greeting-card" with a message of the Riddler is getting opened. But a if you freeze at the right frame, you'll see the cards cover which features an easily recognizable image of an owl with the headline "From your secret friend".

This could be a clou that the films real big Bad could be the infamous Court of Owls which is an organized crime group and secret society in Gotham. The lines of the end of the trailer can even happen to give a hint to that:

You're a part of this, too.

How am i a part of this?

You'll see.

What do you think? Would you like the Court of Owls to be the big Bad in the film? Let us know in the comments below.

Also, there is written "Whoo" with two "O"s. Like, you know, the owl.

@Himura - hmm you might be right. At first it seemed written by hand to me, but it could be an embossed print.u

That's reading into it way too much at the moment.

Good. We need an adaptation that actually does the Court of Owls justice. Batman vs. Robin and Gotham both butchered and wasted them, and their appearance in the Gotham Knights trailer was super cheesy (not unlike the game-over screens in Arkham Origins).

Looks like Oz and Selina are honestly set dressing and world building elements in this story. Batman is likely following Nashton on his murdering spree through Gotham's corrupt civilians. Looks like Nashton found out about the Court of Owls and their conspiracy and is trying to "wake Gotham up". I wouldn't be surprised if the murders lead Batman to confronting the Court of Owls with the Riddler. And, if so, perfect.
