Did Emily Blunt drop Captain America for Batman?

The latest Rumors for both "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Dark Knight untitled sequel", are the female roles of the films. And both involve Emily Blunt.

The LA Times recently reported that Emily was offered the role of the female lead, Peggy Carter, in the Captain America. Her reason for dropping out has been disclosed. But now, Batman-On-Film, is now reporting, from an email they received.

"This dude (who’s pretty damned tuned into the Hollywood grapevine) speculates that one of the reasons Ms. Blunt turned down the role is because she may have her eye set on playing Selina Kyle in BATMAN 3...if Chris Nolan uses the character, of course. "

The site also brought up the fact that Emily Blunt was allegedly up for the role of Rachel Dawes in the Dark Knight, since Kate Holmes dropped out. Eventually the role went to Maggie Gyllenhaal.

OK, WHAT? That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Why would you drop yourself out of the running for a part that is ALREADY THERE, for a chance at playing a character that might not even be in the film? That seems idiotic to me. . .

ok i rather hear chris nolan confirm this then some emailer. nolan even stated that penguin nor catwoman wud be used, yet catwoman is realistic in nolan's batman. who knows. i just hope that this will be the best final entry to a comicbook franchise. batman's got to die, but if not they'll want more and it'll be ruined. hope they know wat they're doing, cus it seems they're more focused on superman then batman.

have you jackasses ever considered nolan might be doing what he did with the joker and let the actor in on what was going on. in interviews nolan said that despite all of the joker rumors, he had only ever wanted heath ledger, and even talked to heath while the script was being written.

It would really suck if Catwoman was in the Dark Knight sequel but Blunt didn't get the role. She basicly would have given up two great roles in favor of a role she didn't end up getting. That would be a huge epic fail.

Because she IS a great actress with killer eyes, and off camera she's fun and witty. All she needs is a break out role in Hollywood.

Ok, this is what I think they might do...The Penguin/Bob Hoskins is the new king mobster in Gotham and he hires The Riddler/Jude Law and Catwoman/Emily Blunt ( and hopefully other psycho Arkham Asylum escapees ) to do his dirty work. Catwoman is like the highly praise thief of the world, Like Ethan Hunt form Mission Impossible.
The Riddler is more like the Penguins right hand man, like Kroenen for Rasputin in Hellboy 1. That leaves riddlers for the police so they can catch him if they're smart enough. Like Zodiac killer. The story line I have brewing in my head is simply sinister, perfect for a Dark Batman movie. Booohahahahahaha!!! LOL
