Why people keep attacking Ben Affleck online is beyond me.

To me, these are all people who are stuck in the past. Ben Affleck is one of the most amazing success stories of all time in Hollywood.

Here was a guy, who was the biggest star in the world, THE biggest. He was dating the biggest Female star in the world. Then.. it all turned to shit. Everything went bad. He lost all of his fame and became a joke. Instead of packing it up and quitting, he waited. He planned to be behind the camera, and has turned into one of the best directors of our generation.

Ben Affleck is a TERRIFIC Director. Anyone who argues that point, has not seen Gone Baby Gone, The Town or Argo for that matter.

Ben built that credibility back up. He became a serious threat in Hollywood and took on some very strong strong roles and delivered. He started smaller, and built up to the point of being able to be respected. His performance in The Town was absolutely fantastic. His performance in the upcoming RUNNER RUNNER reminds me of his short but memorable part in BOILER ROOM.

Ben has proven over the last 5 years that he is back and better then ever. Did Dare Devil suck? YES, he is the first to admit it. But EVERYTHING about Dare Devil was wrong. We are now talking about BATMAN.. handled by WB and DC. This is a MUCH different animal and a MUCH different scale. The way I look at it, is.. it's not Batman people should be worried about.. it's Bruce Wayne. And honestly, Ben will make a better Bruce Wayne then anyone else (Keaton included). He can pull off the Charm while still proving to be a tortured soul without being a baby about it.

Can Ben pull off Batman?

What does it take to be Batman?

He wears a mask, so the "look" doesn't matter all that much. You can't tell me he doesn't "look" the part under the mask.. He has a strong enough jaw line to not look like a pussy in a mask.

What else? He should be a bigger towering type of force.. correct? Bale certainly pulled this off and he was MUCH smaller then Ben already is. Ben is busy bulking up. If you have seen The Town.. you already know how ripped Ben is. What else does he need? It's up to him to find a proper voice.. which lets be honest.. ANYTHING is better then Bales choice of voice.

WHAT I WANT is a Smart Batman. Have him live up to the comics Batman "The Worlds Greatest Detective". Have him BE Batman more then he is Bruce, and you've already solved the #1 Problem that was TDKR. I'd also go with the Bad Ass suit from Arkham Asylum. To me.. all of that is the perfect Batman.

So in conclusion I say this.. While everyone is entitled to opinions, but lets move OFF the "Ben is a crap actor" and instead offer a more valid argument. That, or wait till the movie comes out and pass judgement at that time.

I hope that the success of MOS2 will allow Ben to Direct the next installment of Batman, as I personally think he would do the movie JUSTICE (see what I did?)

Thanks for reading

I agree. Ben will be awesome. At first, I was wondering why he would take the role considering his past as daredevil (I loved the director's cut though). And then it hit me. Even if WB promised Ben that they'll allow him to direct movies and do what he wants if plays Batman, Ben wouldn't have gone into a SUPERHERO role without being sure he could nail it so it wouldn't damage the image he built himself. And WB really wants this movie to succeed (to compete wit marvel) so they wouldn't commit financial suicide by casting Ben just for star power without feeling he could crush it as batman. Trust me guys... Ben will rock it.

Basically agree, except with the notion that he was "THE biggest" star in the world. Big? Yes. Biggest? Eh....not so much. Maybe top 10, maybe even top 5 at one point, but not number 1. I don't think he was ever bigger than Pitt or Cruise, even considering how much I personally dislike Cruise. I'm not even sure if he ever went higher than his buddy Damon. As for J Lo, she might have been the biggest female star for a few months at some point, but she flamed out very quickly.

Now, if he pulls off a great job as Batman, he may be able to claim "biggest."

@highflyer - Not everyone has to agree with you. I have no problem people having bad taste in actors. Sometimes I have bad taste in things. I love some bad movies and bad actors, like Arnold Schwaznegger. Love him, but I know he´s a bad actor and can only be Arnold. In anycase i´m not here to argue, I don´t see why a different opinion offends people son much. Isn´t that why we´re here.

@aresww3, um... I never said I was offended. And I didn't say everyone has to agree with me. You question, "are wb paying you guys?" makes it sound like our opinion that Ben will do a good job is dumb or something.

@highflyer - from my perspective its either ill-informed or just overly optomistic, but I admit I may be wrong. I don´t see the point of even stating "not everybody has to agree with me" as nothing I said implied that, I was simply making a joke based on my dislike for Ben Affleck. You seem to have taken that personally as if people aren´t allowed on this site to state an opinion that upsets the status quo. It was a joke my man, unless you actually believe that I think WB´s are paying you guys.

@AquamanEatsSeafood - most people agree with his casting from what I´ve seen. But i´m working on an editorial on something else so I hope you´ll support non-affleck related editorials.

I think all will be fine as others have stated Ben is a great actor. Also in the mainstream populace Batman is probably the best known Superhero. I would enjoy a Brave and Bold take on this version of Batman. Let Batman be the way to get people in the seats to see how AWESOME a slate of characters DC has. This way would allow the focus to be on the other character rather than Batman. As Affleck has said this (Batman vs Superman) is Superman's movie. (Yes I know that is not a direct quote.) Ithink it would be great to see a Martian Manhunter intro were Jonn has been on earth for many years and finally decides to appear as the Manhunter after the introduction of Supes and Bats.

I already said I'm fine with Affleck. After The Town and Argo he's earned his actoring props.

One thing I love is Affleck is involved in the script probably because I don't trust Goyer.

Sorry but I don't buy that Affleck is going to be good in this because

1)He has never succeeded at playing dark complex or menacing characters;

2)He is a bigger star than the movies main protagonist (Superman) which is always a bad idea;

3)He said that he did not want do superhero films;

4) He said that he is not the kind of director to do big budget CGI heavy films;

5) He has never put on a memorable acting performance and that includes the movies he starred in but he WAS nominated for a "Worst Actor of the Decade Razzy Award" in 2010;

6)It is clear the majority of fans already have strong negative opinions about him as Batman.

7) The Batman he is "replacing" is one of the most popular ever. He neither has the benefit of an expert story teller like Christopher Nolan or any example in his resume that suggests he can top the previous performance.

This is a horrid decision in every way and there is no amount of public relations drive, articles, or condescending opinions that can change that.

First I think that Kathryn Bigelow should do Wonder Woman.

Zach Snyder needs to do JL 1(Darkseid as villain). Ben directs all the Batman movies, world's finest two(based on Hush) and JL 2(based on crisis on inifite earths and Barry dies at the end) , and Kathryn for JL 3(blackest night).

I believe he'll give it 100% of what he has and that's all anyone can ask of him at the end of the day. Personally, I hope he utterly crushes it and makes the haters all choke.

What I find totally laughable and sad are all the "WB/DCCU is doomed!!" and "DC hates their fans!" comments...like those cry babies won't go see it?! Yeah, sure.

He'll do fine, plus he's writing some batflix so that's awesome.

There no evidence to suggest that he can pull it off. He is saddled with an already maligned director and story writer. He has to overcome the nostalgia of the last Batman films and he has no back story to introduce the audience to him. If the movie spends most of the time on Batman, then how is it Man of Steel sequel.
