This film is not as bad as critics are saying. I understand many of you have not been able to see the film. Everyone wants a good action comic book film which is understandable. However, If you are one of the few who hates Snyder or go by what every critic are saying or did not want this film/universe to succeed then this film is not for you. Honest answer if you are going to see the film for some of the reason stated or for the sake of bashing; do not see the film because you will not like it and will do everything to tear this film apart and say I told you so (I sincerely mean this.) However, if you are really into both comic books and comic book movies as a whole then you are in for a treat. I am not perfect but, I do advise to go into this film with an open mind and be aware this is really really different film from anything anyone has ever seen.
The film goes agaisnt every social norms that Marvel has set standards for and that is okay! Going into this film I wanted to see something different it is exactly what I got. The most I can say about this film it is a very different comic book film than we are used too. The tone is a lot darker and redefined what the superhero genre and DCEU will be.
I was waiting in line since 7 pm (Before hand I went to go see Deadpool for a second time which I enjoyed again!) I met some really good people that I became friends with. Once the film began everyone shut up and watched. Throughout the film I heard and saw everyone cheering and clapping through the movie. I had one of the greatest experience in the cinema in quite sometime. Overall, everyone that I went with geniunely enjoyed the film. I personally really enjoyed the film and loved every minute of it.
Story/Tone: I am not addressing anything within the story because everyone that has reviewed the film have already addressed them. I will only say the film addresses all of the destructions and ramifications that were caused in Man of Steel. Without giving too much away the story itself is very very dark that I personally felt was something out of DC Animated film universe or a comic book graphic novel. There are some scenes I thought were unecessary that could have been cut out. While other scenes that I geeked out that were ripped off the comic book pages. Some fans will or will not have issues on the story as a whole. Like I said, I really enjoyed the story it is a really big improvement from Man of Steel (which I liked) it may be a far from perfect film but it worked well for this universe. The film has things that both worked and did not work. I enjoyed the story. Story Rating: 7.9/10
Clark Kent/Superman: Henry Cavill reprises his role as the Man of Steel who has come a long way since the events of the previous film. We find Superman is doing "Superman" things that we know from the comics. Henry Cavill's performance was great I enjoyed every minute of him showing the struggle of both identities. This Clark is far more journalistic than we have seen; than any live action interpretation of a Clark Kent who is both determined and very confident. His Superman is still growing but is saving people's lives one of the many complains from his previous outing. Cavill's take in Superman shows that he deeply cares about humanity. Cavill IS Superman. Cavill's performance: 10/10
Bruce Wayne/Batman: All I can say about his performance he brings possibly the BEST and IS the definitive Bruce Wayne and Batman we deserve. He is a different Batman that we are used too. But, damn this man moves and acts like that Bat from animated and comic book universe that we know and loved. For anyone that was worried that they would only see Ben Affleck when he protrays Bruce Wayne rest easy because this man is Bruce Wayne. I felt the intensity, emotion that Affleck brought to the role in a way that none of his other predecessors have ever done before. Can't wait to see more of him in the future DCEU and I hope he directs his solo outing. Affleck's Performance 10/10
Wonder Woman: I will not go far into her character. But when Gal Gadot appeared as Wonder Woman the whole crowd went wild it was AMAZING! She not only held her own with Batman and Superman, she emobodied the character made it her own. With the limited screen time Mrs. Gadot certainly made the best of it. She was certainly one of the standouts to me. I cannot wait for her solo film next year. Gadots Perfomance 10/10
Lex Luthor: Possibly one of the most controversial castings I have ever seen. He is a very different Lex from any live action we have see and something I have never thought of. He comes off as a very cocky asshole who not only has money but is very very intelligent. I really really loved his performance and could not wait to see more of him as the film progressive and future instalments. Eisenbergs Perfomance: 8.5/10
Supporting Cast: I apologize could not find a photo with the whole cast so this will do. As for the rest of the supporting cast each brought their own certain element to the film. Amy Adams reprises her role as Louis who does a good job as a reporter and brings the human element to the film. Holly Hunter does a good job playing Senator Finch, her character address the concerns of Superman that is quite understanding from her point of view. Jeremy Irons for me was the highlight of the rest of the cast his scenes with Bruce are really tense, while comedic, quite frankly the man is damn good Alfred while also complementing Sir. Michael Caine. Diane Lane reprises her role as Martha I wish there was a little more of. Laurence Fishburn as Perry White is good and improves since the last film. As for the rest I will not comment on since the other characters are secretive. Supporting Cast 8.0/10
Doomsday: Wont dwelve into this character. I will say that there is a lot more too him than what the trailer shows. He is a force not to be messed with. Doomsday: 7/10
Soundtrack: I enjoyed the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer and XL Junkie overall it was great and upbeat. I advice to listen to the soundtrack after you have seen the film. Fun Fact: My Favorite track Is She With You? Sountrack Rating 10/10
Director: Possibly the most controversial director of our time. The negativity I have noticed he is getting for this film is because almost everyone does not like his style of directing. He is a perfect when it comes to both visuals and action. My favorites films of his are Dawn of The Dead, 300, MOS, Watchment The Directors Cut and this film. Mr. Snyder is not perfect clearly shown in Sucker Punch (my guilty pleasure even if the film is terrible). Regardless, this man is a comic book he made this film for comic book fans. Not every director is perfect but all have their own vision and will not please every fan out there. (Although some directors have made decent but not great films Thor films, AOU, X-Men none of them are perfect) There are other directors who have made far worse films ex: Elektra, Green Latern Origins anyone? This film is certainly not one of them. I cannot wait for his take on the Justice League. Snyder's Directing 7.9 or 8/10
Action: All I can say this is one the best action comic book films to explode onto the screen!! I recommend seeing it in IMAX because it is worth every damn penny. Action Rating 12/10
Writing: Chris Terrios brings a versatile writing that was missing in Man of Steel. He does an exceptional job writing this film. His writing brings the imagination of what it would be like if we did really have Superheroes in the real world and the rammifications of it as well. Chris Terrio's writing 8.0/10
This film has a lot to process from beginning to end! Most of you have not seen the film and I advise to wait to see it and form your own personal opinion. These are my personal thoughts from my experience and I loved it. I will be seeing the film again this Friday in IMAX
Final Verdict: I really enjoyed this film from beginning to end it is one of the better comic book films in the last 3 years in my opinion. The film is very dark which is what it needed to differentiate itself from Fox and Marvel Studios. The cast brought their A game into the film. Zack Snyder and co. did a great job overall and improved from the criticism that was received in MOS. This film was natural continuation from MOS. This film is very Comic Bookish film that I have ever seen, never did I think they would go to certain places and thought they had the balls to do! I really enjoyed this film.
