Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has recently reached the box office total of $803 million and it has been recevied well by critics and fans alike. The Film has proven that even in death, superheroes will always have legacies for new people to rise up and continue in their stead. Although in one such superhero's case, Shuri's time as Black Panther may be short-lived because one star of the film believes that even though Marvel Studios chose not to recast the role of T'Challa for now due to Chadwick Boseman's passing in August 2020, the studio will eventually replace him as the King of Wakanda in the near future. During a recent interview with Esquire nearly 2 months ago, Winston Duke gave his opinion on why T'Challa will eventually be recast.
"There's no way they'll never remake Black Panther in the future," Duke told the magazine. "There's no way that the saga and interpretation of T'Challa, King of Wakanda, will end. He is canon. So trust that it'll come. But allow [Black Panther: Wakanda Forever] to be a human experience."
This rings true for the comics as Shuri was always intended to be a temperory replacement as the Black Panther. Given the movement to recast T'Challa and his brother Derrick Boseman's seal of approval, it may only be a matter of time before other heroes like Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr), Steve Rogers(Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanoff(Scarlett Johansson) will all receive new actors as well in light of their (as of now) fallen friend's new potrayal. Should T'Challa be recast for a Black Panther 3, fans will be immediately be taken by surprise if a third Black Panther film happens thanks to fan's posittive reception of the film and due to the fact that Shuri was to be given a different costume (and even a different name) prior to Chadwick's death.
Marvel Studios unveiled their plans for the next three years, for two new Avengers films has been announced as the end of the Multiverse Saga. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be released in theaters on May 2nd, 2025 and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on May 1st, 2026. By the time they roll out, Marvel Studios will be confident to bring T'Challa back onto the big screen even though not everyone will love a new actor as the OG Black Panther
