Black Panther: Wakanda Forever features a phenomenal performance from Letitia Wright. Throughout the sequel, she takes Shuri on an emotional journey that sees the young genius go from mourning her brother to becoming the new Black Panther.

Many critics have failed to highlight Wright's work, likely as a result of the controversy surrounding the actress following a series of divisive social media posts. As you may recall, it was in late 2020 that she first came under fire after sharing a video that questioned the legitimacy of the COVID-19 vaccine.

As well as reportedly spreading misinformation, the video linked back to a YouTube channel that questioned how real climate change is, accused China of spreading COVID, and even included transphobic and homophobic verbiage. Wright didn't come out of that looking good, though she did apologise and quickly deleted her Twitter account.

Still, that did nothing to stem the backlash against Wright, with many fans demanding that she be fired from the Black Panther sequel.

Not helping matters was the fact we later heard reports about the actress spreading her views on set, while her vaccination status was also said to be in doubt. Now, though, it appears as if a lot of that information was incorrect as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's director and cast have argued against those claims.

The Guardian recently spoke with Wright and asked if she feared being cancelled for sharing her views. "I feel it’s something I experienced two years ago and I have in a healthy way moved on. And in a healthy way I’ve apologised and deleted my Twitter. I just apologised for any hurt that was caused to anybody."

"That’s exactly what my apology was. It was saying this is not me, and I apologise." The site continued to push Wright to elaborate on whether she shares those transphobic and homophobic views, to which she responded, "Those are things that I am not and I apologised and I’ve moved on."

So, has she been vaccinated? "I have apologised and I have moved on. Next question. Thanks."

It does feel like we should move on from this now, and questions like these hopefully won't continue to plague Wright for the rest of her career. She did a fantastic job as the new Black Panther, so here's hoping Shuri is a role the actress gets to return to soon.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now playing in theaters.

I think she has apologized and moved on. But I'm not too sure.

@TheHumanSpider2 - what did she say exactly????

I do believe though that this whole cancel culture is turning the human race into sheep.

It really is so easy for people to get caught up in all this.

Thank god for Dave Chapelle.

@TheHumanSpider2 - But Marvel forgave James Gunn and you guys praise him as a savior hear after YEARS of him posting pedophile and rape tweets.

Selective indignance.

Definitely important to ask the tough questions about the video she posted and how much she believes from it (there's a lot of wacky/shitty stuff in that video) but as for her vaccination status and beliefs on COVID, we really don't need to dig into that further. She either believes some wacky/crazy stuff about COVID or she doesn't. She apologized for any hurt sharing the video may have caused and moved on from it. It's not like she went full Gina Carano and doubled down on the foolishness so not much more that should be asked of her at this point

@OmegaDaGrodd - Pretty much this. As long as she doesn’t turn it into an issue for others peripherally it shouldn’t continue to be an issue.

*Hypothetically* IF she was knowingly flaunting her unvaccinated status and trying to force the crew or production to continue against the law, studio rules, etc… that’s a different story.

But she isn’t and didn’t by all firsthand accounts so it should be left at that.

As someone who is extremely vulnerable peoples views/status on it does interest me, but ultimately if she chooses not to discuss or disclose that, it’s her business as I don’t have to interact with her. I was vulnerable and had to protect my self before COVID was even a thing so it makes no difference to me.

@TheFinestSmack - and more people die. All this myocarditis. Death from other ailments is also way up. Just like they said about covid, it’s worse if you got some preexisting conditions, but this thing goes further than that: young, top, athletes, my dude. Dropping dead on the field. Tons.

No panic.

Musicians, a movie director, the other day, a man who died, and then his toddler son starved to death, stuck in the house with him, a freshman football player at the university near where I live, a nurse practitioner near where I live, my dad.

Letitia was Wright.

@TheWalkingCuban - I can confirm as someone who got vaccinated and got a horrible injury from it on a major organ of my body.

This in turn caused me chronic pain, which I've been living with for almost 17 months now. I basically ruined my life with this decision. No doctor is being able to help me and I tried it all.

It's crazy how everyone labels anyone that has something to say against the vaccine as "anti-vaxer".

Live your life and enjoy what you have and be blessed this shit hasn't happened to you.

NEVER take what you have for granted.

@TheWalkingCuban -

Yes she was. And I say that as a vaccinated person.

There’s nothing anti-vax about doubting what the government is pushing.

@kylo0607 @TheWalkingCuban @TheFinestSmack - Its [frick]ed up how CNN covered it up and pushed for the vax's and now there singing a new tune.

CNN

The US Food and Drug Administration added a warning about the risk of myocarditis and pericarditis to fact sheets for Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines Friday.

But crazy how they want to push it on kids where they have 99.9% survival rate if they catch it naturally.

No Amnesty for the pushers!

@HulkisHoly - it’s like people just want to trust politicians, news, broadcasters, and celebrities, that have way more money than them, and are not affected by tax codes or other regulations like we are. I listen to them because it’s cool. I want to be like them.
TheFinestSmack
TheFinestSmack - 11/21/2022, 9:20 AM
@kylo0607 - Oh man, that is horrible to hear. I initially didn't get the shots because my wife and I were worried about it messing with our fertility stuff we are doing. But then my dad died of heart inflammation and a burst valve a few weeks after his second shot. That's when I got skeptical and then I saw many more people in my life either die or suffer from life changing health problems shortly after their shots. I really hope that in time they can find some ways to reverse some of the damage done by this things, and that you can be healed.

@Matador - I love how there's a line in Wakanda Forever about cardiac arrest being a potential side-effect of the experimental heart-shaped herb supplement.
Ironheart's like "Wait are you serious?" and Shuri's just deadpan "Yes, I am serious".

@TheWalkingCuban - I stopped listening a little while ago. Almost everyone in Hollywood and Hollywood-adjacent is a shill and their acting goes well beyond the big screen. I don't even enjoy super hero movies anymore. I come here for news with the hopes that maybe something will make me appreciate them again, but it's not looking good.

@ObserverIO - That I did not know; wholly crap they just through it out there like that?

I haven't seen the movie but wife keeps telling me movies and shows reveal plans for the real world.
