Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Wants Ryan Coogler To Return For BLACK PANTHER 2

Black Panther has been a hit with critics and looks set to have a huge opening weekend in North America. While it's too soon to say how it will perform overseas, the movie nearing $1 billion worldwide seems possible and you'd best believe Marvel will want to move forward on a sequel soon.

During a recent interview with Variety, Kevin Feige was asked how many more Black Panther movies we could see and it sounds like he's keen on telling more stories about T'Challa on the big screen.

"We always say we work on one movie at a time. If you have any good ideas, put it in the movie you’re making. If you don’t, you might not be able to make another one. That said, Panther has been around for more than half a century in the comic books and there are many, many stories to tell."

Asked if he thinks co-writer and director Ryan Coogler will return, Feige said: "I hope so." The trade then pushed him for details and asked if the Marvel Studios President would like the filmmaker to come back. Feige made his feelings clear with a resounding, "Absolutely." With any luck, a sequel will be announced soon because the sooner we get to return to Wakanda, the better. What do you think?

@DoubleD -
I think they wanted Kraven for the first movie but Sony stopped them. Unsure if they would be able to get the character for the sequel. Kraven would work well as a side villain to set him up for a 'Last Hunt' Spider-man film or simply to set him up for Sinister Six.

I think a character like Zenzi would work well;

Effectively a mutant with powers over emotions - which could be fun to play with. I could easily see her manipulating Wakanda or the US to turn against T'Challa.

@CosmicCipher -
I have no doubt it is going to get one. Every Marvel character seems to get a trilogy - even Black Widow might get a trilogy if people react well to her first movie.

Only character who is not getting a direct trilogy is Hulk, but he's getting aspects of how they would do his trilogy scattered throughout Age Of Ultron, Thor Ragnarok and Infinity War/Avengers 4.

@Scarilian - Well preusumbly caps trilogy will end for quite a while, iron man might another film. THor might take a break.

I could see them putting them in these spots.

Lets say for a phase

Iron man 4.
Ant and and the wasp 3
Guardians of the galaxy 3
Black panther 2
Avengers 5

And obviously ant man and the wasp and guardians will end. That said they will stick in more movies, especially with the fox merger.

@CosmicCipher -

I think it is more likely we'll see a Thor 4 or Captain America 4 instead of Iron Man - at least for the next phase anyway.

Homecoming is going to get a sequel every two years, as contracted - the rest are sort of expected, but here is an idea of Phase 4;

2019;
Homecoming 2 (July)

2020;
GotG 3 (May)
Doctor Strange 2 (Aug)
Black Widow (Nov)

2021;
Black Panther 2 (Feb)
Homecoming 3 (May)
Ant-Man 3 (July)

2022;
Captain Marvel 2 (March)
Avengers 5 (May)
Fantastic Four (July)

Throw in a couple of new character movies and perhaps a Thor 4 OR Cap 4 and that's basically what i am expecting.
