Michael B. Jordan Says There's No Ego Involved With His Decision To Play BLACK PANTHER's Villain

Michael B. Jordan usually plays the protagonist but Black Panther will see him play the villain to Chadwick Boseman's superhero - a move he's comfortable with for only one reason.

Michael B. Jordan spoke with MTV News' Josh Horowitz following the Marvel Studios SDCC panel on Saturday night and disclosed that he and Ryan Coogler began Black Panther discussions pretty early on. He also said there's no ego involved with the his decision to assume the role or Erik Killmonger and that he's fine playing the villain to Chadwick Boseman's superhero; although, it was something he had to carefully consider before signing on. Knowing that it's somewhat of a risk at this stage in his career to try something different, Jordan said he "felt safe" taking that chance with his Creed and Fruitvale Station director.

Speaking of Creed, Jordan also updated the status of Creed 2 by revealing that there are actually no updates worth reporting at the moment, although it's definitely a sequel that's going to get made at some point. Someone at Marvel Studios was definitely a fan of that film as following its release and subsequent Oscar-snub, Coogler, Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson all joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe family.

Black Panther is slated to his theaters on February 02, 2018.  Boseman plays the titular hero while Jordan will play one of two primary antagonists.  Providing support to the King of Waknda are Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira, who play two members of the Dora Milaje.
