In case you missed it in the As IT HAPPENS roundtable chat with Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige has confirmed that they are already discussing a solo project for the Black Widow character and that they are in talks with Scarlett Johanssen to return to star in the film.
"We've already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts," said Feige in a press conference for the Iron Man 2 Blu-ray/DVD today, "but 'The Avengers' comes first." Johanssen will be returning to play the role of Black Widow in the upcoming Joss Whedon directed ensemble film
The Avengers which will begin filming in the next few months.
As most of us know, ScarJo was not the original choice to play the role of Black Widow, as Emily Blunt had to drop out of the filming of
Iron Man 2 due to scheduling conflicts. Although she did a decent job with the Black Widow role, many feel that Emily Blunt would still have been a better choice.
One has to wonder whether or not Balck Widow could carry a solo film or not. While she is an interesting character, I am unsure if she could do it, at least not with out the inclusion of a one or two more well known characters. What say you geeks?
