Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Danny Ramirez is excited for MCU fans to see the stunning action sequences in director Julius Onah's upcoming superhero film, Captain America: Brave New World.

Variety caught up with Ramirez at Sundance, where he was on hand for the screening of his upcoming indie black-comedy drama, Winner.

"A lot! There’s some phenomenal sequences," teased Ramirez when asked by Variety to share what element of the film is he most excited for audiences to see. Ramirez will portray Joaquin Torres, a character first introduced in the Disney+ TV series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

He continued, "The way Julius works and how he structures and layers his characters and films — “Luce” is a phenomenal example of that — like the little hidden gems he places from the score, to different elements of sound, to how he plays with some lenses. I’m excited for the entire experience, but specifically there’s one sequence that we shot, that I haven’t seen yet, but I’ve heard a lot of really great things."

Ramirez also touched on his experience filming in the new Falcon costume, stating, "[Shooting in] Atlanta, in the summer, during a 90-degree day is tough. It was insane.

However, he did receive one helpful tip from former Falcon turned Captain America actor, Anthony Mackie. "I learned by the end to follow his lead on his suit prep, so maybe not double-sleeve everything. Do the cut off," said Ramirez on making his costume as practical as possible.

After donning the stars and stripes in a Disney+ television series, Mackie will make his 'cinematic' debut as Captain America in Brave New World when the film hits theaters on  February 14, 2025.

The film was originally set to be released in July 2024, but it's reported that substantial reshoots are slated for Spring/Summer 2024 after poor reactions to early test screenings.

Matthew Orton was hired back in December 2023 to rewrite a significant portion of the screenplay originally penned by the team of Onah, Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson.

Previously, Mackie shared the main difference between what it means to have Wilson slinging the shield versus Steve Rogers.

Said Mackie, "It’s more so about his ability to connect and counsel. He’s not as rash to bear arms as Steve Rogers was. Having a super serum makes you impossible to beat, so your answer to everything is to fight it out. Whereas Sam Wilson can actually die pretty easily."

The cast for the film includes Mackie's Captain America, Ramirez's Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (who replaces the late William Hurt), and Shira Haas as Israeli superheroine Sabra.

Rosa Salazar also has an undisclosed role in the film.

@Batmangina - There is a new falcon? Who the hell remembers "Joaquin Torres"? Horrible idea.

So we're just gonna ignore the fact the falcon was one of the original black superheroes?

Guess it doesn't matter when Sam "upgraded" to the hand me down white superhero mantle.

@Origame - Sam Wilson, Luke Cage, Misty Knight and Blade are like the Four Musketeers of 70s black representation in comics. Those characters are iconic and impactful on their own. We don't need Blade's daughter and Sam really doesn't need to be Captain America, let these characters be who they are and let them represent who they were created to represent.

@VamP5659 - let's face it, they only saw Sam as Steve's Robin. That's why they had to "fix" him.
VamP5659
VamP5659 - 2/7/2024, 10:14 AM
@Origame - Which isn't even f**king right. Bucky was Steve's Robin, Sam is Steve's partner (the outside hero that helps out from time to time).

@Origame - Give me the 70s Romita Falcon costume - complete with Wakanda tech wings and boots with the claw feet on them like my goddamn MEGO Action Figure.

Never ONCE as a kid did it occur to me that the Falcon was black and was Cap's partner.

I bought Captain America AND THE FALCON every [frick]ing month. Full stop.

@VamP5659 - also, just looked it up. Falcon wasn't just one of the first. In terms of American mainstream comics, falcon was THE first black superheroes.

And not once when making falcon did Stan Lee call him a sidekick.

@Origame - At this point, I'm legit convinced Kevin and his partners take time out of their work day to piss on Stan's grave.

Like next to this, Bullseye's costume, killing off Foggy AND Karen, making an Israeli mercenary (Sabra, a character that can be done more respectfully if given better writing imo) a prominent character in your movie during a god damn conflict between Israel and Palestine, throwing in characters from a movie that you denied was canon for a whole decade, also cutting out the ONLY ACTUAL Captain America villains (the Serpent Society) to make way for "diverse heroes from all nations" aka one-dimensional stereotypes with little to no personality outside of the country they are from like this is the god damn Epcot World Showcase...

I could go on for days but my fingers will get tired eventually.

The Joaquin Torres suit honestly looks like an off-brand WWE wrestler.

I mean Sam's OG costume didn't look that practical either but at least they improved it over time.

@VamP5659 - I like Sam's costume in the first episode of FATWS best. Too bad we didn't get more of that imo
VamP5659
VamP5659 - 2/7/2024, 10:08 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I mostly mean in the comics but yeah, that's probably the best suit he's had in the MCU.

BruceWayng - 2/7/2024, 10:34 AM
@VamP5659 - Don’t worry, I’m sure his costume in the movie will just consist of tactical gear, boots and fatigues aka the standard Marvel costume for human superheroes
VamP5659
VamP5659 - 2/7/2024, 10:37 AM
@BruceWayng - What happened to when comic book movie costumes looked like they popped out of an actual comic book? Like I'm all for trying to make a super suit look practical and fit inside a certain aesthetic but this is just lazy at this point.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 2/7/2024, 2:47 PM
@VamP5659 - oh gotcha. Yeah, some of the comics suits were odd either. Think the FATWS one took the best elements from the comics and made it look believable on screen

bkmeijer1 - 2/7/2024, 10:04 AM
Do hope there is a lot of flying action with both Sam and Joaquin being strapped to wings. That opening of FATWS is still pretty amazing

Despite the show being absolute wet dog sh1t, I was glad that he had very little screen time. He was as annoying as every other supporting character they put into these films, aside from maybe Wong.

I really gotta check out Luce because the director does give me a bit of trepidation about this given his filmography but that’s one I have heard nothing but good things about (it was his most recent aswell).

Anyway , I did like Danny’s performance & the character in FaTWS so I’m looking forward to seeing him as the new Falcon!!.

Where are the Hulks? They need to be forefront characters marketing this cringe and on top of that they need to hide Uncle Sam and Captain Israel.

@McMurdo - Hahah for real…this guy has done absolutely nothing in his career to warrant writing the next CAPTAIN AMERICA movie. Same thing with Julius Onah. The only thing the guy has directed that anyone may have seen was Cloverfield Paradox…which was just terrible.

THIS is why Marvel is tanking. They are giving the keys to amateurs either bc they are cheap or bc of the optics. Either way at the end of the day it just diminishes the value of their brand.

Man, i remember when i was WICKED pumped for a Captain America movie....

Then FaTWS came out and sucked ass... and then this was announced with some no name director and the AWFUL writing team of said terrible show.

I have 0 faith or expectations this movie will be any good.

Yep the director who's movie got such a bad reaction at its screening that it's having to have major reshoots is great lol I guess he has to say that, being bargain basement Falcon in the movie

Anyone else remember when the MCU was good, its getting more and more faded in my memory
