CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Star Seth Rollins Talks MCU Role And Whether He'll Leave Wrestling Behind

WWE's Seth Rollins is playing Cobra in Captain America: Brave New World, and while there's not much he can say about the role, he does weigh in on possibly following in John Cena and The Rock's footsteps.

Last month, Seth Rollins was spotted on the set of Captain America: Brave New World with it looking likely that the WWE Superstar will be among the actors who are playing members of the villainous Serpent Society.

Since then, reliable insiders have confirmed Rollins has been cast as Cobra. That makes this easily his biggest acting job to date and there's a lot of excitement among the World Heavyweight Champion's pro wrestling fanbase to see what he brings to the table as part of the MCU.

During a recent interview with Daily Mail (via TheRingReport.com), Rollins was asked what he can share about his role in the next Captain America movie.

"I am sworn to a certain level of secrecy, so I can't divulge too much information on that. What I will say in response to your question is that it is cool, it's cool to get opportunities to do something outside of your comfort zone."

"This is what I love, WWE, professional wrestling, it's all I've ever wanted to do and all I ever intend to do as a career for as long as I can, but anytime you get to a certain level in this industry there's going to be opportunities that come your way and I love taking chances at this point in my career."

"[If] you get the chance to do something incredible outside of WWE, you've got to take a look at it, try and make it work the best you can because you only get one life and one chance and you never know when you might get an opportunity like that - so you got to make it happen."

After Another Impressive Showing During Monday's RAW

Rollins' path to Hollywood may well be heading in the same direction as the likes of John Cena and Dave Bautista, both of whom have starred in comic book movies. However, while the RAW Superstar isn't discounting the possibility of acting full-time, it sounds like he's focused on his in-ring career...for now, at least.

"I don't know where my future lies. I feel, like I said, at this moment wrestling is my future for as long as I can do it at a high level," Rollins explained. "But there's going to come a day when falling down is going to turn my bones to dust and I will have to start looking elsewhere and seeing what other options there are."

"I don't think that's coming any time soon and I'm just in the prime of my career right now and there's a lot of years ahead of me."

After a successful title defence against Bron Breakker during Tuesday night's NXT, Rollins' next challenger for his title will be Finn Balor at Money in the Bank, so he has plenty to keep him busy in WWE for now. As for Captain America: Brave New World, that will be released on July 26, 2024.

Perfect answer. Can’t do that one forever, even though some try for some reason. Never a bad thing to look towards the future. Smart man.

He’s not the star.

Burn it Down, Rollins. You're gonna kill it in this role.

He’s going to be a throw away thug. At best, he’s like Crossbones or Batroc. Just there to serve a few action scenes.

@mountainman - Nothing wrong with throwaway thugs. Both Batroc and Crossbones, that you have cited here, did a great job at presenting as a credible threat only Captain America to dispatch of them easily to prove just how "super" he really is.

I'm obviously biased as a Seth Rollins fan, so of course I'd love to see him steal some scenes. I know that he is supposed to job out to Captain America and I'm here for it.

@TheRose - I wasn’t trying to belittle this with that comparison. Both Batroc and Crossbones served their purpose just fine. I was just trying to put into perspective that he’s likely to have a smaller role and won’t be a huge MCU baddie. The Serpent Society aren’t huge villains overall.

@mountainman - I didn't read this as belittling. Come to think of it, most of Cap's rogues fill this role. Basically only Red Skull stands shoulders above the rest of Captain America's jobbers

@mountainman - 20+ movies in and many many characters now depicted... your only gonna get so much screen time for less villains at this point. down the road who knows. heck, since crossbones was loosely connected to hydra and bucky, we may get a clone down the road that could be involved in a longer storyline on D+

This casting alone says much about recent mcu quality. With the director of cloverfield paradox at that.

...this, applies to so many professions.
