CAPTAIN AMERICA Star Anthony Mackie On Jonathan Majors: "Everyone Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty"

Loki star Jonathan Majors remains in the midst of a legal battle after allegations of domestic violence from his now ex-girlfriend. The actor has maintained his innocence from the start but has been dropped from advertising campaigns and upcoming projects, as a result of these claims.

As of now, he's still the MCU's Kang the Conqueror. Common sense says his future beyond Loki season 2 (which he'd already shot at the time of his arrest) will hinge on how things go for Majors in the months ahead and whether he's able to clear his name.

Anthony Mackie, meanwhile, recently wrapped work on Captain America: Brave New World and will soon be front and centre as one of the MCU's most important superheroes.

Inverse asked for his thoughts on Majors' recent legal issues and the actor was quick to make a very important point.

"We’re a country that was built on 'everyone is innocent until proven guilty,'" he tells the site. "That’s one of the staples of this country. Nothing has been proven about this dude. Nothing. So everyone is innocent until proven guilty. That’s all I can say. It’s crazy where we are as a society. But as a country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty."

It does largely feel like Majors has been found guilty in the press, so many will no doubt appreciate Mackie speaking out like this. In fact, it was in the same interview he weighed in on the ongoing WGA strike and the fact the Screen Actors Guild may join them out of solidarity.

"Once the studios went public and were bought out by major companies, we were f***ed. It’s no longer about art. It’s no longer about interesting, fun work. It’s about end-of-the-quarter profit sharing. It’s about shareholders. So you’re literally just raping and pillaging the industry. It’s cannibalism."

"It’s a sh*t show if we go on strike," he continued. "They’re going to have to. Unless they get a bunch of f*cking YouTubers to make Avengers 5!"

Again, it's great to hear Mackie talk this openly, and something tells us he'll use this platform as the MCU's Captain America to do so more often. Even in a very divided world, that's no bad thing, and the actor makes a lot of compelling points here.

Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Why would they ask Mackie about that? (Yeah, I get why.) Don't put him in that position.

@MosquitoFarmer - But Mackie don’t give af, he always says it how it is, just like Evan’s. Besides their talent, it’s part of the reason that makes them good Caps.

That is a legal term that does not apply to life outside of a court.

@PartyKiller - but it’s the one that should matter.

@PartyKiller - fine. You assaulted me.

So by your logic everyone here should just assume you did assault me until you provide evidence that you didn't assault me?
PartyKiller

@Origame - Your childlike mind can't comprehend. We make judgments nearly everyday. We don't wait for a jury. You don't understand that?

@philinterrupted - Facts

PartyKiller - 6/28/2023, 12:22 PM
@philinterrupted - If we didn't judge guilt or innocence, we could never question if a person is lying, or not trustworthy. A person couldn't even decide a person is guilty of a crime against them. We couldn't decide a politician or a scammer is lying.

@PartyKiller - you have a hard time understanding concepts don’t you?

@PartyKiller - ...dude, people are losing their jobs because of this. And it's not a matter of them losing business because their public image was ruined.

Johnny Depp never had a chance to protect his public image because he was instantly canceled from his most popular franchise, pirates of the Caribbean.

Hell that can directly be tied into my example. People can just believe me that you assaulted me, meaning you're banned from this site and probably fired. All based purely on my word.

@SpiderBrad - barely. Really beat me senseless 🤣
PartyKiller

@Origame - It's not purely on word in this case. Majors GF had signs of abuse. Others have finally come forward to say Majors abused them. And even more women say Majors lawyer is lying about them supposedly defending Majors.
Origame
Origame - 6/30/2023, 9:53 AM
@PartyKiller - those signs of abuse being bruises. We can't tell if it's genuinely from abuse or something like running into a door until a proper investigation and trial happened. That's why we have trials and not just throwing people into jail. So why should that be enough to have someone fired from their job?

And not only are you so desperate you had to include sh!t that didn't happen until after we had this discussion, but those women are still making accusations. That's not evidence. And they have every reason to lie. Attention for one. But also a potential lawsuit against someone like majors can lead to a big payday.
Origame
Origame - 6/30/2023, 9:54 AM
@PartyKiller - also, continuing this trend of my accusation against you, I have a bruise on my side. There, I've got a sign that you assaulted me. So we should be against you, right?

@PartyKiller - madam got drunk, partied hard, took sleeping pills and then fell into a closet at her man's house. Then blames her man for it, who wasn't even at the place at the time.
That's what the little evidence that has been made public seems to show.

@Cap1 - I disagree. Keeping quiet got is here.
Cap1
Cap1 - 6/28/2023, 12:16 PM
@philinterrupted - I wish it wasn’t the case but purely on a basis of how the public will view him based on this (not well) and his colleagues (also not well) and marvel (definitely not well) it probably wasn’t a wise move. Nice he has the balls to speak up sure but from a business standpoint it’s not a good move
Origame
Origame - 6/28/2023, 12:17 PM
@Cap1 - I really don't know what's wrong here. He's saying the obvious. He hasn't been proven guilty so we can't act like he is guilty.
Cap1
Cap1 - 6/28/2023, 12:19 PM
@Origame - as i’ve just said, I don’t find anything wrong, i’m talking from a business stand point. There’s a reason no one’s spoken about this in Hollywood, despite i’m sure strong opinions on either side
philinterrupted
philinterrupted - 6/28/2023, 12:20 PM
@Cap1 - but to my point, the only way to change that is for level headed people to not keep quiet.
Letting the people that jump to conclusions be the ones that dictate how we live is idiotic.
Cap1
Cap1 - 6/28/2023, 12:23 PM
@philinterrupted - absolutely, but expecting that to change is only marginally less idiotic
