This from Deadline.com:

"I've learned that Marvel Studios and director Joe Johnston are ready to test candidates for Captain America, and I’ve got their wish list. I’m told that the contenders include Chace Crawford, John Krasinski, Scott Porter, Mike Vogel and Michael Cassidy. They also wanted Garrett Hedlund, but he so far hasn’t made a test deal."

FINALLY! Concrete news! This debunks a few of the past rumors. Nikki goes on to talk about the salary for the actor who gets the role being at $300,000 for the first movie, but get this, the actor who gets the gig has to sign on for a nine picture deal! That's a total of ten films with at least a Captain America cameo in it, obviously including The Avengers!

Michael Cassidy


Garrett Hedlund is also in the hunt.

UPDATED: A source over at schofizzymoviereview.blogspot.com is saying that he has been sitting on the rumor that John Krasinski has the Captain America role all but officially locked in. Meaning John is the Man! No official confirmation but stay tuned for further announcements!

I just read this article. Good to see they are acknowledging something! Never thought about Mike Vogel. The others just don't do it for me. Hedlund, maybe. Not liking the Krasinski idea at all.

Chace Crawford?! Are you joking? The dude looks like a 15 year old wimpy prep boy, and his acting sucks.

Krasinski?! He's great on the Office (and he should be Blue Beetle) but Cap? No f*cking way.

Porter? Eh, maybe he could be good. But he looks and sounds a little too boyish.

Vogel? He looks decent for the role, but I've only seen him in Cloverfield, and he didn't show anything special in that movie.

And I don't know who Michael Cassidy is.

Thumbs down to this list. But I would accept Hedlund in the role (though I feel he's more suited to Winter Soldier and Bucky Cap)

All are good (except for the John guy). It's really weird how they always must have a 'bullshit' guy on the wishlist. Maybe they put him on the list just to make the others look better. Oh and is it me or does Chace Crawford look like Zac Efron?

i dunno, this list is OK, but with all the rumors, i wont be convinced of who is actually cast until i see the first trailer, but this is coming from the guy who didn't believe mickey rourke was in iron man 2 up until about 2 months ago

Hedlund is the only one up there I'd actually give a good shot. Porter's okay, but he just doesn't seem like Cap material. The rest, God, if these are really the finalists, I'd be scared shitless to find out who the guys that didn't make it were :(

you guys got this all wrong...

The most important thing for Cap' is acting ability. Muscles can be bulked.. even the most cock-eyed of lookers can be sold as Cap' if they can act. Hold your tongues y'all.

Remember the shit show that came about when Ledger was picked as The Joker? No one ever suspected he could transform the way he did. Give it a chance to see what surfaces..

Man, I'm a HUGE Krasinski fan. I love the office. ... BUT... he's a choice completely out of left field.... HOWEVER, after really REALLY thinking it over and opening my mind, I could actually see it. Granted, that nose may pose some problem. But I think he has what it takes to pull off an up and coming leader. He could play innocent/intimidated when given a huge task like leading the team. idk the more i think about it the more pros i see... but the cons are just as much. so weird. lol like wow. hmm.... I wonder when we'll get OFFICIAL word. soon i hope.... i can't see any of them really though. But he's the biggest name i see of them all. Idk... let it settle.
