"Thank you for today, please for tomorrow". - Askani Clan

Self sacrifice; the sacrifice of oneself or one's interest for others or for a cause.

Thank you for taking your time to give Deacon Askani's first ever sermon a look, I hope you enjoy the read and are inspired as well. Todays topic will be self sacrifice, and the Dark Knight will be our example of this life style. I say life style because  it is not as simple as a choice. There are many things we can learn from the Dark Knight, but for me, his greatest attribute is self sacrifice for the city of Gotham. In every film, cartoon, comic, the one thing that is always constant is he always puts Gotham first. Now some would say he does it to fill the void, ensure others do not have to endure the same pain, or he is simply insane. However I believe it is much deeper than that. Yes it does  become and addiction and an escape, but he never truly does it for himself. Everything, and anything, he does always has Gotham's best interest in hand. His body, mind, heart, and soul are given to the belief that he can make Gotham a better place. He is successful of inspiring others to make sacrifices for the benefit of Gotham. What separates the Dark Knight from others is not his money, skills, or even gadgets. It is the fact that he lives and breathes the belief of self sacrifice. From the moment he awakes he is thinking of how he can make Gotham better, it never leaves his mind. That is where we can truly learn from him. It's not about picking and choosing when to sacrifice, it's about making the world a better place for all. Self sacrifice is no easy feat, greatness never is. As humans it is in our nature to put the betterment of ourselves and loved ones first. Does that make us selfish or even a bad person? No, it makes you human just like everyone else. When you decide to harm others or set others back to benefit yourself and your family is when you become selfish. We mostly do what we were taught or shown as growing youth, whether we realize it or not. Negative behavior, such as selfishness, is very easy to grow accustomed to. Negative behavior, or negative energy if you will, is like a drug and it can consume you. It is also very easy to plant seeds of negative energy into others. Negativity breads negativity, and finds strength in numbers. Thomas Wayne planted the seed of self sacrifice in his son from the moment he was born. His actions always had Gotham's best interest in hand. He didn't just choose to help Gotham, he lived to help Gotham. He knew that positivity breads positivity, and it too finds strength in numbers. The Dark Knight takes self sacrifice to the extreme but shows us it is possible to do. But not by choosing when to sacrifice, but instead to always put others first. Not because it is the right thing to do, because actions speak louder than words. Now we can't fight crime or donate millions of dollars to a charity. We can however honor the Dark Knight by living self sacrifice, and showing others that there are good, positive people on this earth. And it does not have to be huge sacrifices to make a difference. Allowing someone to merge into your lane, holding the door for a few more seconds to help others in, little things like that can go a long way. Those little things plant seeds and grow. So remember you too can have an impact on the world like the Dark knight by choosing a life style of self sacrifice. The are things much more important than ourselves, the future for our children. We shape the world we live in, lets take a lesson from the Dark Knight and use self sacrifice to shape a better world. I thank you for taking the time and energy to give this article a read. I hope you enjoyed it, and hope you are inspired. I welcome feedback, please honest feedback, even if it is not positive. Take care, and have a great day.
