Greetings Friends. Well Blackest Night has come to an end, and what a finale to end upon. We have seen the very fabric of the DC universe ripped due to the evils and malice of Black Hand and Nekron. We have seen friends and foes brought back to do bid to a unfathomable foe. We had revelation with the Green Lantern Corps itself. We had heroes being defined more than what they were meant to be and what the future holds in store for them. Alright alright enough with the Philosophy lesson, we have to the end of the latest Event comic that involves the ever present it seems Green lantern Corps. For a quick catch up of all the events that have transpired.
A new corps has been establish by Black Hand know as the Black lanterns, who are the living dead of superheroes at first, they have to collect the hearts of people in order to recharge the lantern, for each death they make, a ring takes over and the dead rise again, heroes die and zombify, soon the other corps gather and plan an assault, They fight back with heroes of earth until black rings reach 100% and Nekron is reborn with the help of a black lantern batman(?), however only one person did not rise due to a conflict with himself(carter hall), Nekron soon brings back ALL the people of Coast City that died, tons of fighting occurs, Nekron discovers the White Entity who created everything in the universe, Sinestro takes over it and becomes a god.
Thats in 1-7 and Green Lantern #52. Now the events in 8 are the finisher and we wrap everything up in this issue. Sadly Sinestro doesn't last long in the white lantern form(AMAZING.lol. all this hype and he blows it). Hal tells Nekron that life has meaning, he and a few become white lanterns, they kill Nekron, Black Hand disappears, and all the heroes who died are alive again, minus Bruce, and Hal and Barry have a talk at the graveyard. This issue ends with the White Lantern being discovered.
I loved this Event comic and can't wait to see what Brightest Day will bring us(hopefully a cool prop ring.lol.). Geoff Johns writing is Spectacular in this issue, he really gives new meaning to making a story. The choices and actions he's had with this event are groundbreaking. I give this issue a 5/5 in writing, Johns is amazing and DC's great staple for writing and I give the art a 5/5, really colorful and defines each character perfectly. Now the entire event I give a 9/10, while I loved everything that occurs, I wish somethings were a bit more fleshed out(no pun intended.lol), I'm glad they weren't overbearing with the focus of the select amount of heroes. The Black rings were pretty basic, all they did was keep the host alive, I wanted a bit of variety to the Black ring, and The White lantern seemed pretty obvious towards the end.
Overall, I really really loved this series, I'm glad its finished so we can enter a new phase into the ever evolving world that is DC. Til next time BlackAirs out!!!

oh one quick question, If the gaurdians of OA knew of the Blackest Night in the prophecy, wouldn't Brightest Day be mentioned as well*scratches head*...thats what I was thinking during the readings. Or is this book only updates as things happen....or am I thinking way too deep into this.lol.

Blackest Night is the first event in a long time that I was completely hooked through the whole thing. It was just a fantastic read, all the way through. Can't wait to see what else is in store during Brightest Day.

Wow BlackAirse very thorough review.
I adored the Blackest Night, it was simply engaging and captured so much emotions that I readers could relate to.
Personally I see myself as a Red Lantern, I kinda have a short temper.
Anyways, I grew up as a Thor (J. Michael Stracinsky) fan and when Geoff revamped the GL franchise I was in total astonishment by such compelling storytelling.
The event did feel a bit tedious due to some parts that felt too long or like nothing really happened but more massacre and little plot development, however overall I gotta give the entire event 8/10.
It is one of the most unique and memorable events I have ever read ever since Sinestro Corps War and Civil War.
