This Thursday, January 21st, DC launches DC Universe Infinite, a premium digital comic book service and community. With over 25,000 comic books and graphic novels available at launch, the platform will also feature new comic releases six months after their in-store releases, while exclusives are also planned.

While this service will initially be U.S.-only, there are plans for a global launch later in 2021.

"This is just the beginning of DC Universe Infinite's transformation," explains Pam Lifford, President of Global Brands and Experiences at Warner Bros. "Our fans will have access to a rich collection of their favorite comic books and publishing while connecting with a community that loves the same DC characters and brands."

Those of you with a DC Universe subscription will be able to use your existing login details for DC Universe Infinite, while HBO Max will become the home for upcoming DC TV shows and movies like Doom Patrol, Zack Snyder's Justice League, Titans, and Stargirl

It sounds like there will be other perks, including free portals - one of which will be based at community.dcuniverseinfinite.com - that include everything from trivia challenges to book clubs. DC is also promising an overhauled DC Shop at shop.dccomics.com; that's going to include a wide assortment of gear and collectibles, including exclusive, limited-edition products dropping regularly.

Among the titles coming to DC Universe Infinite are Preacher, Batman: Damned, Superman: Year One, Joker, V For Vendetta, Dark Knights: Death MetalLucifer, and more.

I really hope they’ll have The Sandman and Preacher on this. Always wanted to get into those two.

I hope it'll actually release in Canada now. Marvel unlimited is over here and I used it to read the entire JMS Spider-Man run. Would love to find good runs to read from DC. Like batman superman generations

It won't be too hard for them to keep up with DC's ever shrinking puny line of new comics. It should be just 10-13 titles a month very soon.

At first I thought this was some formal announcement of their Infinite Frontier initiative and what it means for the future of DC Comics.

I really like the service being relaunched with just the comics, but they've got to bring down that price. They got rid of all the movies and shows but the price is still $7.99?

@Waddles - exactly. I blow $40 on comics A WEEK!

@tazmaniak - Marvel Unlimited is 9.99 a month.

@BreakTheCode - The price in and of itself isn't the issue. If this were a completely new launch of a service, the price would be fine. But it's the relaunch of an existing service, minus thousands of hours of TV and films at the same price.

I hope they improve the UI because searching for and reading comic on the old DCU app was terrible.
