Ideas for Marvel Movies in the Future

Where should MARVEL take it's franchise? and which Heroes/Villains should we see soon?

I personally don't think anyone in Hollywood wants to make another Punisher movie anytime soon, although the last one was good in alot of our eye's.It was not a "hit" to critics & did bad in terms of $$$ but I believe there is a place for Frank Castle, maybe not on the big screen but t.v. Hear me out with this....not basic cable chanels but HBO, The Punisher is right up HBO's alley. So it wouldnt be as insane & nuts as the warzone movie, it could still be violant.Get some good drama writer's n' turn it in to more of a cop show, people love cop shows. I would love for Ray Stevenson to keep playing him he's perfect, plus he has done an HBO series before, maybe he's more comfortable doing t.v. rather than movies.I mean t.v. is getting better with special effects & cgi
with that said, another Comic Book series that I think could do good on t.v. is Cloak & Dagger it could be an action/drama and some of the storylines would make for good t.v.

Now I got thinking to myself WHAT if MARVEL ever got the rights back to all of thier characters, what would they do? what could they do? & what they should do is something BIG....My Idea, a animation movie, not like the avengers flicks or Hulk vs but a CGI animated big screen movie like shrek or final fantasy & definitely not for young kid's. The story... "SECRET WARS" baby,go big or go home, I know they would make it in to three to six movies,it maybe long but still you know it would be epic !!! just imagine all the stuff they could do,the actors couldnt, plus they could save a bunch by getting some no-names to do the voices and actully have all the Heroes/Villains size's right,and,and,and,and....

Cloak and dagger eh! havnt heard ther names in a while...nice ass shot of Dagger!

Im sorry if im offending any Secret Wars fans but i thought those comics were rubbish. Even as a kid reading them i new something was seriously lacking. So they have this great idea to throw all of the Marvel characters together for a big royal rumble..but completely forget little things like character, plot and drama? Secret Wars reads like it had been written by a 12 year old..and if you dont believe me go back and read it again. Theres a reason Jim Shooter stuck to editing after Secret Wars

Crush i'm really sorry for having to go off on you here but i'm gonna have to agree with Roar on this one. First off, cloak and dagger suck in every meaning of the word. Second, let's establish the "Secret Wars" plot... A bunch of super heroes and a bunch of super villains "teleported" by an unknown and unshown omnipotent being onto an unknown planet. And you honestly think that they can make 6 FREAKIN MOVIES of that when no one seems to be able to make ONE decent Superman movie and they all seem to be going the "realistic route" with upcoming projects... well then explain to me how exactly "a story that offers no depth, no character development (or background for that matter), too many players and no humanity connection what so ever", will ever get passed, in a million years, even just ONE movie??? Any ideas? Look, I enjoy the occasionnal fanboy plot...when it is well founded, plausible and can appeal to the masses. But to hear a plot that would "logically" have nothing to offer to people aside of fanboys and then saying they should make 6 movies out of it is ridiculous. Unless you actually have a plot written down that makes sense and has a logical chance of succeeding that you could share with us, i don't even see the point in mentionning it. I totally agree with you that Secret Wars would kick ass! Why??? Cause i'm a fanboy just like you and i even enjoyed the secret wars comics for what they were, a simple "battle royale" of Marvel's finest but honestly, how you could even think of it's possibility is way "beyond" me. But i'd love for you to prove me wrong. Give us concrete ideas and maybe you'll succeed in getting us all on board with you :)

First,Roar that is a nice ass shot & thats why I put it up!Second,Wow you guys are sharks!,lol, look instead of calling this Ideas for mavel movies in the future I should rename it to one man's crazy fantasy that everyone thinks is a bad idea!& guys I'm 27 and fully aware that secret wars has no real plot, any depth, its not logical and that its just an excuse to have a royal rumble.Plus I also feel that it was written by a 12 year old for 12 year olds.Look we all got "older" and relized that alot of what we were reading had no real substance to it.Let me address the cloak & dagger issue,
1.I really think marvel could do well on t.v.,it works for smallville & heroes,so blade failed that shouldnt be the end of t.v. for mavel.
2.I think marvel should use some new heroes, cloak & dagger was just an "idea", their simple to use just them in new york cleaning up the streets, fighting regular people(thugs & drug dealers)I just think that alot of the names that float around for t.v. shows like Moonknight are guys I would rather see on the big screen. I also wouldnt want to see something like X-Men(a young class) wich was also a rumour because it has too much potential to become a teenage-drama for 14 year old girls. C & D has a dark storyline where they coulnt really get off topic.
3. Do you guys have any ideas for marvel t.v. shows?
Now back to Secret Wars,
1.I don't "honestly think that they can make 6 FREAKIN MOVIES" I said 3-6 movies, hell I'd be cool with one movie. If they EVER even made it I'm sure Marvel would want to turn it in to a franchise like everything else & if they did more then one movie maybe they could get marvel writters to tweek it a bit " tie up the loose ends)add some heart to it & a little less crash, bang, boom.
2.As for going the "realistic route" I doubt Marvel wants every franchise to head that way.Plus thats why I said CGI animation! they can do whatever they want when it comes to animation.
3."Character development" at this point I would say that the average movie goer knows the key players (spiderman, fan 4,x-men,hulk)backgrounds, no need to explain them.It would give people a chance to see lesser known characters in all their glory fighting it out.I also think it would help establish these characters to be seen in battle side by side with the popular heroes/villains,atleast for the non-fanboys.
4.Now I'll admit I wasnt thinking how they could make it appeal to the masses...I was just thinkin' do it, I guess that was just the kid in me.Now comments like yours start friendly debates which I like. But seriously you & I know Secet Wars makes no sense they go to space & battle,I just think maybe with the help of "marvel" writters it could have emotion(people dont want to be there, some go nuts, characters die & the reaction of others)(ideas)again I said cgi animated so it wouldnt be related to the live action films.
All n' all Marvel will most likely never make secret wars, for good reasons...then again marvel is a whore so you never know & if they made it we would all go see it.
and Shaman in regards to you saying that no one can seem to make a decent Superman movie,I'm not the biggest Kal-El fan(I'm a marvel guy)but I've got my fingers crossed for a Trilogy,Superman's birth, his life & the death of planet earth & him. That would be cool.

p.s.-So maybe Secret Wars would be difficult to make, what about something like Civil War ? (just an idea!)...lol.

See now i'm so glad you actually posted that and i'm also sad all that wasn't in your article because it is a kick ass point of vue that you have!!!

After explaining it thoroughly, i'm actually more pulled towards getting on board with you on this bitch :)) IF they could ever get all their rights back, CGI would definitly be the way to go and your point of view of how different characters would react and deal with this situation is the very depth and development that Secret Wars lacked in the first place. The focus was just on the battle and not the "humanity" behind the characters. So if they decided to make say a three hour cgi movie, and focused more on the actuall characters, it could very well be kick ass. Of course they would need a bit less characters to make sure that everybody gets enough screen time. They were ALL chosen for a specific reason and it could be cool to "tweek" as you said the "beyonder's" plot and storyline to make it less corny.

Now as for the tv shows, i totally agree that most less known characters should go on tv first to make themselves known. I've said it so many times that it should be my signature. Green Arrow's "Supermax" movie will blow at the box office just like Punisher: War Zone did. Why did it blow? Glad you asked!!! Because "the masses" (bill payers) don't connect with Frank Castle as much as they do Rambo. For non-fans, they know nothing of him and Punisher's storyline offers nothing to them to actually attract them to see the movie. They already know about Rambo because Stalone already "made" that character popular in the 80ies when action movies with no depth were the rage. Ask Van Damme or Lungdred or Seagal if that's all it takes to get butts in the seats in our day and age and they'll "whirlwind hammer kick" you in the face 5 times and once in slow-mo! They don't know Frank and don't care about his third or fourth movie either. To make these characters known to the masses, you gotta reach them where the heart is...home. They need to flip through channels bitching about nothing good on and them BOOM!!! Green Arrow!!! "Ah this doesn't look half bad" and then... BOOM!!! Hooked on it :)) Cause honestly, who do you know that doesn't care much for comic books that would actually be attracted to the "Supermax" concept? Cause i sure don't.

Another good example are the x-men versus Fantastic4. The X-men have a lot of political issues about society and character development. So naturally, they never needed a tv show. But Fantastic4 has jack squat aside from cool looking powers which kinda drew a croud for the first but not for the second even though SILVER SURFER was part of it for cryin' out loud! FF would have been way better as a action/romance tv show like Heroes is proving every season. They can say all they want about that show, it's still rakin' in ratings.

As for which character would be good for tv, Luke Cage should NOT get a movie, Green Arrow should NOT get a movie and definitly not Cloak and Dagger. I think that they would have better chances of a tv show as you said. But some characters are also just made for the books and not the screen. Personnaly, i'd watch Moon Knight but not Cloak and Dagger. And if i can't connect with the first two episodes of Moon Knight, i'd ditch it in a new york minute. I'm a comic book fan but some things are just not made to be exploited in every field. Like the "generation X" concept you mentionned doesn't belong on the big screen however might have better chances on tv. That's where the teen angst should stay along side Smallville.

So for future articles, be sure to unload all your thoughts on us so we know where your coming from. Detail, detail, detail! Believe me, people will then get hooked on what you have to say and will bring more opinions to the table! And great avatar by the way, i love THE MAXX :))

Yeah the maxx rules! ive never read the comics but that cartoon was amazing..even if i didnt fully understand it!

i dont mind cloak and dagger actually, ive read a couple of ther darker graphic novels and ther quite interesting characters..course it depends whos writing them. But they could be worked into a dr strange story nicely

OOoh see, to incorporate them with Doctor Strange would be a kick ass idea!!! Good job Roar :))

Oh and i myself loved the cartoon too but didn't understand it either LOL I think it probably was the purpose of it, so that no one understands it :P

I'm sure Sam Keith don't even get it & he wrote it!!
Sam,wrote it & did the art which is amazing not to many people do both! although I'm positive he locked himself in a room for a month and ate nothing but ACID & drank straight Tequila he came up with a cult classic.

seriously though it is a confusing story & its awesome,if you understand it or not.Its about a homeless guy (MAXX) who thinks he is a super hero, aided by Julie, a freelance social worker, alot of the story plays out in the MAXX's head.Mr.Gone is pure evil & the Isz's are some of the coolest little f**kers I've seen.To say the least The Maxx is one of the most Original comics I've read, even to this day it holds up,there's just nothing like it!
The cartoon came out on mtv in '95, and for years I looked for it on dvd, they don't sell in stores....but lucky me I found a bootleg copy(with the cover)at a comic convention in Toronto.

You have to love a comic/graphic novel, that when the story is done,it's done,no more,no new stories nothing just like "Watchmen or Y:the last Man" don't get me wrong I love stuff like SpiderMan & X-Men just seeing other people's take on a charcter, but their is something about those books that just scream cult classic.(Watchmen 12 issues,The Maxx 35 issues & Y:the Last Man 60 issues)it also makes it easy for you to complete a full set, instead of trying to buy like 500 issues of something!!!

Download episodes of The Maxx if you can

I'm totally with you on that one crush, watchmen, astro city, the crow, Maxx, Mosaic all feel different but better than main stream comics. The characters are mostly more interesting in mainstream but the stories and back ground development are way better in independant, acid inhansed, pure imagination spewed right on the page comics! The focus is just not on the same aspect which is cool cause it means that everyone has a place in the industry :))

Yeah i could follow it (mostly!) as i watched it, but i could never figure out what was in his head and what wasnt. So does it turn out that the guy is just nuts and there are really no fantasy elements to whats happening at all? I remember Mr Gone turns out to be Julies dad i think..and Maxx has a rabbits head!

I actually think that the real world turned out to be the one he was imagining and Julie (his social worker) was like, just his conscience or something. Either way, it's made to be enjoyed in all it's brain fart glory :))
