Jeph Loeb tells us a few of Marvels brands that we won't see in a live action television series.

We have already heard that Marvel is planning on bringing some of it's stable of heroes to television in their own live action shows. The Hulk is one hero they have plans for and we have also heard The Punishers name kicked around.

In a video interview with NEWSaRAMA, Marvels head of Television Jeph Loeb tells us a few Marvel heroes we won't be seeing. He also explains that Marvel is taking it's time and trying to do each show properly.

Transcribed from NEWSaRAMA's video interview...

"I can tell you that we are circling around the properties we are going to be doing for live. I think we're well aware of what the fan base has been talking about."

"Some of the things obviously we're not going to be doing. We're not going to be doing an Iron Man live television show. They do the movies beautifully. I think when people see what THOR is, they'll be absolutely mind blown. And it's all leading up to The Avengers movie."

"So while I think it's fantastic that the fan base wants an Avengers television series, they will get an Avengers television series in the animated world. But we're not going to compete with that in any way in the live action world."

"We are looking for those shows that are producible, that we can do with the heroes that we know and love and remain true to the spirit of the shows. But it is going to be a process. One of the things that people kind of need to remember was that when the studio came along they didn't just automatically go out and make Iron Man. They waited until they got the script right. They waited until they got the right cast, the right director and they made a great movie."

"We want to embrace that same thing, so we just haven't made all those decisions yet. Let me just put it that way."

How bout a show of Steve Rogers going to school for 10 years and in the last ep he becomes Cap America and flies away.
lol just kiddin i love Smallville.

I think Punisher is very doable although i hope it doesn't become like that Blade tv show, that was lame.

Wouldn't mind seeing some character spin offs following the life of an X-men character before they join the team. Gambit, or even Wolverine in the early 20th century.
Or even the future of the X-men universe with Bishop or Cable that'd friggin awesome.

I still say a Heroes For Hire Show with a revolving cast would be awesome. One week Luke Cage, one week Iron Fist but have the stories connecting to each other. Every couple of weeks have them team up against a more powerfull villain.

Punisher tv series is a must

@deathmetalbrian

the reason is the cgi on tv budget is not good

The Hulk sure as hell wont work on a weekly basis unless they have a HUGE budget for decent CGI. And that is a character I want Loeb nowhere near in any medium after his awful comic book work. Really looking forward to what they come up with though because there are a lot of great Marvel characters who are suited to TV.

Guys, check out my Superman: The Man Of Steel Fan Cast! Just click the link.

THEY SHOULD DO A WOLVERINE TV SERIES ABOUT HIS TEAM X DAYS! THEN THEY CAN GET THE STORY OF WOLVERINE OUT BETTER BECAUSE IN THE FILM THEY LEFT OUT A LOT AND THE MOVIE WAS PRETTY BAD.

AND THEN CAN FINALLY DO DEADPOOL CORRECTLY AND IN HIS WEAPON X SUIT FOR HALF THE SERIES THEN SWITCH TO THE MORE RED COLOR! :)

You have to consider budgets. For one thing.A smaller property that could bring in young viewers with appeal to both genders would probably be a good place to start.Runaways could probably bring in CW viewers for example. If they did Power Pack and put it on Disney around the same block of programing of W.O.W.P for example they'd probably have a big hit.Cloak and Dagger could be a gritty, emo, style hit with teens of both genders.

PUNISHER would make the best television show. The formula is there for a weekly. Doctor Strange would be a cool one.

Hello CBM world, this is my first post but I've been an avid follower of this site for about a year and just registered a couple days ago. Just wanted to say when I think of a Dr. Strange show I think if "dresden files". Which, albeit didn't last very long, but definitely showed that something like that type of concept can work and a GOOD way unlike Charmed cough*cough*

Dr. Strange could make a better TV show than a movie. Also we do not need another failed Punisher movie. Enough, already. Three strikes. It's out. Punisher TV, though, would be really cool. And Marvel has that back from Sony now.
ShadesAtKnight
ShadesAtKnight - 11/1/2010, 4:24 PM
I'd love an X-Men TV series. That way characters like Cyclops, Kitty Pryde, Collosus, Gambit, Angel, and Beast would be fully realised, unlike their big screen counterparts. If Joss Whedon could adapt his Astonishing X-Men for television, that would be pretty epic!
ShadesAtKnight
ShadesAtKnight - 11/1/2010, 4:26 PM
Or possibley give new characters a chance in live action. Thus, NO PUNISHER. They've tried for three films to get him right, and they still all sucked.

Punisher on HBO. Sex. Violence. The works. Do it Loeb. Do it! I actually liked Ultimatum, y'know. It was full of reckless rage. I think Loeb was venting his grief, after Sam died. Sure he [frick]ed up the Ultimate universe, but that's what was good about it.

I've always though that the concepts of both Runaways and Xmen: First Class sounded like they would be better television series than movies. Even if they weren't making movies out of both, they probably still don't have the rights to do a live action x-men tv show.
It would be really cool to see some kind of show featuring SHIELD agents.

I miss the old Horror TV Shows, like Tales from the Crypt, Darkside, Outer Limits, Monsters, etc.

DarkHold: Pages from the Book of Sins, and Morbius would be great shows to bring back that old school Horror Vibe. :)

Dr. Strange should really be on TV. Some how work the Watcher into it with some "what if" scenarios. I also like the idea of Heroes for Hire. They need TV shows that allow the possibilities of cameos by other characters. Dr Strange for the supernatural side. Heroes for Hire for the adventurer side. Cameos by Blade, Morbius, Punisher, Daredevil, Moonknight and maybe even the movie stars like Downey. He could cameo as Stark on show. Jackson as Fury could as well. I think it would be cool to tie the TV and movie universes as if they are all aware of each other.
