Marvel Comics Announces Identity Of Supervillain Ghost Rider In GHOST RIDER: FINAL VENGEANCE Series

This March, the Marvel Universe debuts a deadly new Ghost Rider when Parker Robbins, a.k.a. The Hood, becomes the new Spirit of Vengeance! Find out what to expect and get a first look at the villain here!

Over the years, the Spirit of Vengeance has burned its way through various hosts, and this March, it will abandon Johnny Blaze for a new rider in the pages of Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance. An evolution of Benjamin Percy's acclaimed Ghost Rider run, this new series will see an iconic supervillain unleash hellfire as the new Ghost Rider...the criminal mastermind known as The Hood!

Marvel Comics has been teasing us with this reveal for weeks and we're pretty sure that not many of you called this.

Armed with a demonic cloak and dark mystical abilities, Parker Robbins' undying lust for more power and fortune has made one of the Marvel Universe's dangerous threats (he's even battled The Avengers). Now with the Spirit of Vengeance claiming what’s left of his soul, there’s no stopping his bloody takeover of the criminal underworld.

According to the publisher, by the time Johnny Blaze is able to claw his way back from the abyss to reclaim the Spirit of Vengeance, it'll be far too late.

Joining Percy will be artist Danny Kim who delivered a terrifying showdown between Ghost Rider and The Hood in last year's Ghost Rider Annual #1. The rising star has designed a brand-new look for The Hood/Ghost Rider that is sure to strike fear into readers’ hearts which you can take a closer look at below.

"Some villains you know all too well. Doctor Doom. Thanos. Mephisto. But I find it especially fun to bring the lesser-known baddies out of the shadows and give them a shot at a starring role," Percy explains. "That's what I did with Omega Red during X Lives of Wolverine/X  Deaths of Wolverine - and that's what I'm doing now with Ghost Rider."

"The Hood wants a taste of the big-time. And he's made a deal with the devil to help him on his way. This is what happens when the Spirit of Vengeance is stripped from Johnny Blaze and grafted on to a character who has no moral compass," the writer adds. "An epic crime saga - flavored with horror - awaits readers in Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance."

The Hood will make his MCU debut in Ironheart where he'll be played by Hamilton and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts star Anthony Ramos. It's too soon to say whether he too will become Ghost Rider, though we do expect Mephisto to appear in the Disney+ series.

You can see The Hood embracing his new role in the Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #2 cover by Juan Ferreyra and Kim's original design sheet. Be there for this dark new chapter of Ghost Rider when the first issue arrives on March 13...

The design Kinda loses the whole flaming skull appeal when you cover it under a hood.
Origame
Origame - 1/11/2024, 4:30 PM
@HashTagSwagg - they could've at least put him in a space helmet.

Admittedly that always gave me a chuckle with space punisher 🤣
StSteven
StSteven - 1/11/2024, 5:39 PM
@Origame - Yeah, same here, but then I remember that technically fire needs air to burn and obviously there's no air in space, so in that case the helmet makes sense, assuming that he has some magic invisible air tanks constantly supplying his helmet with a never-ending supply of demonic air because apparently even hellfire heeds air to burn as well and OW! my head hurts now.

You know what? Forget it. Let's just go back to "it's comic book physics just shut up and read it, damn it!" There I feel all better now.
Origame
Origame - 1/11/2024, 5:49 PM
@StSteven - I mean, I'm really just talking visuals.

Also, he's covered in hellfire. Even water can't put it out.
StSteven
StSteven - 1/11/2024, 5:54 PM
@Origame - Yeah, I know. I was just trying to come up with plausible explanation for the helmet (beyond the whole stupid "He's in space. In space people wear helmets. Full stop.") explanation and then gave up after realizing that it just didn't make sense, even using comic book logic.

*sigh* Okey dokey then. He's in space. In space people wear helmets.

@StSteven - I mean, honestly we don't really need to think about it logically. It is a space themed ghost rider costume. And they nailed it (albeit in a funny way).

@HashTagSwagg - I really wish Ghost Rider didn't become a Skeletor-looking bad guy. When I see him i just want a fiery hug.

@StSteven - like Shut Up and dribble....but in comic book form Sr. StSteven (my fav on this site)
StSteven

@Origame - Yeah, you're right, it's just... when things look THAT derivative I tend to think that the creators must have some in-universe explanation, so I try to figure out what it is, especially when it has to do with sci-fi related things, you know what I mean? Kinda like how in early sci-fi movies, comics, etc. the artists would try to envision what things would look like and how they would work in the far future, and then often times those aesthetics end up becoming real-life way on down the road. Kinda of like how sci-fi things dreamed up in fiction back in the 50s and 60s are becoming real now, although even the aesthetic may be the same, the underlying function is pragmatically based. For example, look at smart watches. Many years ago it was imagined that one day we would be able to communicate with each other simply through our watches. And while that aesthetic became a reality, how it did and how it is used (originally for monitoring health functions) evolved differently, but the original sci-fi no doubt helped to drive the "talking into your watch" functionality to some degree.

That's just an unnecessarily long and drawn out explanation for why I want, nay I DEMAND a better explanation for why GR is wearing one of those vending machine plastic capsules on his head! (Hell, I'll even accept "He watched "Mars Attacks!" and liked their style").

The hood has always been an underrated villain and also a complicated one. He’s a demon who uses guns? Like what?
HashTagSwagg
HashTagSwagg - 1/11/2024, 4:53 PM
@JFerguson - I'm sure the writers working on that female iron man Disney D+ show will do him justice.

Cool design, but it skews a little too close to Spawn.

I didn't think Spawn, but since you two mentioned it, it's spot-on.

Thanks to 2011's Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance, we don't have to!

Ditto. The movie is ass, but for instance the boiling charred leather jacket is an insanely cool stylistic choice.

Should have been Stilt-man! I mean, c'mon! Can you imagine 8 stories of flaming stilts walking past you office window? Seriously would scare the crap out of me. And just think about the fear and terror he would strike in the hearts of evil window washers everywhere!

*sigh* When, WHEN will Stilty get his time in the spotlight?!?

Sooooo, the Hood becomes the new GR, right before the MCU films a series with the Hood and Mephisto? Gee, color me surprised!
