Marvel Comics Reveals The Future Ms. Marvel On Alex Ross And Daniel Acuna's New AVENGERS: TWILIGHT Covers

Marvel Comics has explored many future timelines over the years, but the fate of Earth's Mightiest Heroes is darker than you ever imagined.

Starting next January, we'll witness a breathtaking new vision of the Marvel Universe's tomorrow in Avengers: Twilight, an epic new limited series from two of the industry's hottest talents: writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Daniel Acuña. After expertly crafting this saga throughout the last few years, Zdarsky and Acuña have joined forces to deliver what's being described as a captivating and thought-provoking new endpoint for the Marvel Universe.

The series will explore the very nature of being a superhero through the lens of an aged Steve Rogers, who must wield the shield once more to not only save the world but restore the Avengers' legacy. From there, we'll see how twisted the Avengers' goals and efforts have become as Steve must stop an all-new lineup of corrupt heroes with startling connections to those who call themselves Earth's Mightiest Heroes today.

Over the last few weeks, we've shared a first look at Captain America's new suit and shared glimpses of new and familiar characters in covers and interior artwork.

Now, you can check out a vastly different take on Ms. Marvel courtesy of Alex Ross and Daniel Acuña's covers for February's Avengers: Twilight #3. In the present day, Kamala Khan is one of the Marvel Universe’s brightest and honourable heroes. In this series, will she continue to live up to her esteemed reputation or has her mantle been irreparably tarnished?

The comic book's third issue will take Captain America off the shores of New York City to the Raft, a government facility full of secrets and danger! Can Cap infiltrate it before the new Iron Man gives him the same gruesome fate as Tony Stark?

"Steve is the perfect character with which to see a changed future since he's been through that experience before coming out of World War II," Zdarsky recently explained. "His ethics and morals and outlook have a consistency to them, so seeing how he reacts to a changed America is always interesting, to me at least! And this future America is seemingly perfect, so Steve has to question whether or not to upset what his fellow Americans are comfortable with in pursuit of the truth."

Take a closer look at this new Ms. Marvel design below.

I always wanted a future story where humanity made it. Rather than being a dark depressing future, may be for a change go for a optimistic future where heroes aren't working on Street but through offices. Everyone is cool with mutants because we have evolved from homosapiens to next level.

Tackle a story where a world war 2 Steve who only wanted to be a soldier and nothing else is having problem when there is nothing to fight. He becomes red skull and may be goes on to oppress aliens because his morals wouldn't allow to hurt humanity but he sees aliens as bug/non human.

@MartianManHuntr - I came up with a story like that.

So wolverine and several of the marvel heroes are fighting their greatest threat yet. It's their last stand to save humanity. And as they fight, wolverine is so severely injured he's unconscious and takes several decades to heal. When he awakens he finds the heroes won and the world has adopted their purpose as a unified entity. Steve Roger's son rules as an elected official. Being one nation instead of several countries means war is a thing of the past the military is comprised of super soldiers piloting iron man suits to protect from alien threats. Crime is a thing of the past thanks to a spider squad patrolling the streets (with the new York branch trained by a long retired Matt Murdock). And mutant hatred is long since past. In fact, the only concern wolverine has about this new world is that there's no place for a soldier like him in it.

@Origame - I like it. I just want a story where good guys win. Have some time for introspection. Like Thanos may be think what would they do once they have achieved their goal.

@Razorface1 - That second para I wrote about Steve is mostly a joke. I mentioned aliens because in infinity war whole Avengers are fighting aliens which reminded me of starship troopers scenario.

But in all seriousness, I do wanna see captain America in such optimistic future. I made that joke thinking how different current world feels to any WW2 veteran. They had different mindset and that's what I applied.

Also another part was because in first cap movie, Steve was shown only interested in joining military.

I saw The Marvels very entertaining movie. Will see it again. The Marvels has something going for it there is no BIG movies coming out in November or December almost no competition.

The Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score is still Fresh and has a 85% Audience score.

@AllsGood - It's gonna be interesting to see how Disney handles two massive Marvel box office flops in a row after Ant Man 3 and this turkey.

The only MCU release next year is Deadpool 3, which I assume some people are excited about, but in 2025 it's just Sam America and Thunderbolts and I don't see too many people getting hyped for those two.

Terrible writing, uninteresting new characters, and oversaturation have sunk the once unsinkable ship.
The genre is dying as is the MCU.

@Feralwookiee - My Concern about Deadpool 3 is the audience is losing interest in the MULTI-VERSE and even Loki Season 2 had a 40% drop of viewership from Season 1.

Did Ant-Man get stuck in tiny mode and then decide to take up drawing people from that angle as a hobby? Good luck with your Kamala projects, I'm sure this is the one that will finally be the one that makes her popular j/k lol

@WarMonkey - She’s a 10 year old character that’s cracked every form of entertainment. She’s popular enough, with the only other new character achieving that kind of success since Harley Quinn being Miles Morales.

Most of these characters with their own franchises are 60+ years old, with even the youngest like Venom and Deadpool being decades old now.
WarMonkey
WarMonkey - 11/11/2023, 9:04 AM
@FireandBlood - She was created the same as many other characters at that time. They were pushing the idea of "passing the mantle" to diverse(non-White, non-male as Disney defines it) characters and gender-switching others from male to female. This is where they started to focus on identity politics instead of story and the downfall of Marvel comics was beginning and it's never recovered.

The feminisation and politicization of the comic industry had begun (The people in the industry were very open about their agendas and using these characters as "platforms") and only one character has emerged from there as being popular or bankable, Miles Morales. The Southpark special even lays out the exact reason why he made it and the others didn't.
Ms. Marvel like all the many others have been pushed and pushed and pushed and yet have never found a sizable audience that would actually pay money for their stuff.

Marvel, in it's hubris, thought once again if they throw her front and center that people would love her and would come around to making her popular. They have been trying for over a decade now and have failed every time. It had reached the point of insanity years ago actually. This doesn't mean some don't love her, it just means her fanbase is small and it's not growing. There are thousands of characters like this that are fan-favorites but aren't bankable with the majority. I would bet almost everyone on this site has a personal favorite character that is like that.
WarMonkey
WarMonkey - 11/11/2023, 9:15 AM
@WarMonkey - To add to this, the huge drop-off in movie audience since Phase 4 began was highly predictable for people like me that pay attention. They were doing the exact same strategy they tried in the comic industry that failed miserably. And just like there these characters did not become popular just because they took other popular character's name/mantle. Before the gov't lockdowns, comic book stores were going out of business all across the country at an insanely high rate. Now the movies theaters are bringing in a lot less profit with these characters so the pattern is repeating.
