Marvel Comics has released more variant covers for Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant, putting Kamala Khan front and centre in both her new costume and a number of classic moments in the X-Men's storied history.

From the moment Ms. Marvel burst onto the scene in 2014, her impact has only embiggened with hit solo comic runs, notable stints with the Avengers and Champions, pivotal roles in crossover events, and memorable team-ups with her favourite heroes.

Marvel Studios chose to abandon her Inhuman status in the MCU and even gave the character a new set of powers (making her less Mister Fantastic and more Green Lantern). The Ms. Marvel finale also revealed that Kamakla Khan is a mutant, a change her comic book counterpart is now undergoing. 

After the teenager's heroic sacrifice that saved the world in Amazing Spider-Man, Kamala will be brought back thanks to the miracle of mutant resurrection in X-Men: Hellfire Gala 2023 #1.

The bad news is her debut doesn’t go exactly as planned, and soon all of mutantkind will be hunted worldwide as the catastrophic Fall of X grips the Marvel Universe. With that, Ms. Marvel will find herself thrown headfirst into the world of the X-Men as the Marvel Universe's "New Mutant."

Into this thrilling age of hate and fear, Kamala will have a secret mission to pull off for the X-Men, all the while struggling to acclimate to mutant culture. Amidst the action, behold an inspirational journey of self-discovery as Kamala explores this long-hidden truth about herself and realizes how it overlaps and interacts with other aspects of her identity.

Right in time for her big screen debut in The Marvels, she'll undergo an exciting evolution in August's Ms. Marvel: The Mutant, and four more "Homage" variant covers have now been revealed. In those, we see Ms. Marvel in her new X-costume recreate her most iconic covers and reimagine herself within some of the most memorable moments in X-Men history.

X-Men: Hellfire Gala #1 arrives on August #2 before Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant hits on August 30.

@supermanrex - - I wouldn't call being disappointed in the Krakoa Era as "nit picky". Hickman set the stage for an Era of X-Men who just threw away everything they stand for. Everyone is acting out of character over night. Xavier turning his back on humans, blackmailing the entire planet over the promise of his cure-all flower, letting Emma use her powers to manipulate the world governments into getting their way.

I could go on and on about all the things wrong about the Krakoa Era. So no, these are legitimate things to be upset about as an X-Men fan. They are not just inconsequential nit picks.

@Radders - Dude, it's like, they changed everything that made the X-Men....the X-Men. Everything they believed in. Everything they stood for. Out the window.

[frick]ing Xavier decides he's had enough of Humans' prejudice? When you think about it, he's spent most of his life preaching to humans not to judge mutants by their worst examples. And let's be honest, there are always some asshole evil mutants attacking the world. That was never going to change. Just like there were always going to be prejudice humans attacking and working against mutants.

It really makes Xavier a hypocrite. He was always preaching to the humans to give mutants a fair chance, even though there were constantly mutants giving humans a reason NOT to give them a chance. So he just gives up on humans and turns his back on them, which is the exact opposite of what he's been asking of the humans all this time.

So he throws the dream out the window and what's worst is every single mutant who's ever been an X-Man agrees with him and just decides to follow him over night?

And then, their craziest and worst villains show up and agree with them? Is that not a huge red flag? Nope. In fact, let's put Apocalypse Sinister on our [frick]ing council. Lmao. [frick]ing. APOCALYPSE. And SINISTER! Their two most irredeemable villains.

It's such a slap in the face to everything X-Men. To call that a nit pick is absolutely insane. The X-Men had one of the best messages in all of comics. To be accepting of people that are different. It doesn't get more respectable than that. And then they have the X-Men just throw their hands up and say "[frick] it"? Come on.

Nit picking would be getting upset about some costume changes, or something inconsequential like that. LMAO.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - Yeah it's a Gambit miniseries (probably a rewrite of the Channing Tatum movie treatment he did a while back) and a revival of the 2001-2004 X-treme X-Men run and I think it's set directly after that series. He also did some X-Men: Legends, which is also set in the past.

I think he sees his X-Men: The End as the definitive ending of his story. You'd probably have to ask him that, I don't know, but he doesn't seem too involved in modern continuity, so maybe all his recent stuff can take place between his original 616 run and X-Men: The End.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - the question implied just as i knew it would by his explanation that claremont is somehow disappointed in what current day creators are doing to these characters. that he is turning his back and doesn't respect what has come after his day. claremont has had an amazing run and set the story lines for the mutants for decades that would be revisited even to this day. hickmans run is just as game changing as claremonts. hickman came in and took a stalled and repetitive franchise and turned it on its head and made it intelligent while doing it. are they out of character i think not more like this is how people react when suddenly they are the top of the food chain. some of the out of character nature of some of the characters has been explained away already. so its nice to see mutants at the top of a complex and smart story again.

@supermanrex - No. I'm just curious how he would react to everything from the last 20-15 years. I would totally love to hear his views on certain story arcs. He should have a podcast. Hickman did a lot of amazing things with the X-men no doubt.

Not that I give a shit about this in particular, but oh man, God forbid they let the comics do their own thing. DC and Marvel have been massive culprits of this for the past decade. Do they realize that the medium is the one that has been fueling the rest of the entertainment business all this time and not the other way around? How many movies, series, cartoons, and video games have comics inspired? For decades, comic book writers and artists actually had to sit down and come up with original ideas. Let's keep that trend going.

@PlusUltra - The most recent instance I can think of, which I don't think would be reverted anytime soon, is bringing Peacemaker to the forefront. And like, okay I get the reasons and all, but it just makes comics feel like they're creatively bankrupt and unable to bring in new audiences or even survive solely on the merit of a well-told story.

This is an instance of MCU and comics synergy that I wished had been avoided, I liked Kamala as an Inhuman.

I also don't think it was necessary to replicate her former and iconic covers from a decade ago like this for her mutant rebirth. They should have thought of different, creative covers to launch this.
