When her uncontrollable mutant powers were tearing her apart, Rogue found a home and a family with the X-Men. Now with her closest friends at her side, she'll step up to do the same for other mutants in Gail Simone and David Marquez's Uncanny X-Men.

Launching in August, the new series will be the second of three flagship X-titles set in the upcoming "From the Ashes" era. Today, you can check out all-new variant covers for the debut issue, including group shots by Marquez and celebrated X-Men artist Leinil Francis Yu.

We also have a gorgeous piece by Adam Kubert, and the first in a series of character pinups spotlighting the new team by Luciano Vecchio.

Here's the official description for the new Uncanny X-Men series:

After the brutal loss of Krakoa, mutants need the X-Men more than ever. With Professor X missing, Rogue reluctantly finds herself as the X-Man designated to keep the team together. Rogue, Wolverine, Gambit, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee forge a new home in a New Orleans, and when four mysterious young mutants show up at their doorstep, that home becomes a haven. Protecting mutants from a world that hates and fears them, and using their powers to ensure there’s a future worth living in. They are the Uncanny X-Men!

"Uncanny X-Men is the book that made me fall in love with comics," Marquez recently said of joining the iconic title. "It's been a dream come true getting to work with Gail, Matt [Wilson], and the whole Marvel editorial crew under Tom to put together this story: a badass, heartfelt, action-packed, character driven X-Men mystery."

"I hope readers have at least half as much fun reading it as we have had making it," he concluded.

"I absolutely have to take a moment to praise David Marquez," Simone added. "Not only is this going to be one of the best-looking books on the stands, he's simply an idea machine and he makes every single page better than I wrote it. Anyway, come join us, we're having an X adventure and you're all invited!"

Check out this new look at Rogue and her squad of X-Men (who definitely appear to be taking their cues from X-Men '97) below.

Nightcrawlers fingers and toes in that first cover bother me.

Also, there is just something so iconic about the 90s roster of X-MEN. I just love this line up. When the roster gets too packed with other newer Mutants is when I lose interest.

But these costumes, these color pallets together, it just works for me. I don't want them to change the look or the members of the team beyond the 90s stuff I know. When they do, I begin to lose interest in the core fundamentals of the group.

That new Wolverine suit is dope. Definitely the best modernization of his classic yellow suit that I've seen to date.

Andy Kubert Cover is the Best For me.

@Nomis929 - Man the Kuberts could do no wrong in the 90s. I've always preferred Adam's art (he is the one that did the Origin series) but Andy has been drawing more lately. I wonder if Adam is busy at the art school.

@Nomis929 - Most definitely, one of the best X-Men artists.

Wish Bishop made the cut. Not sure why Storm isnt on the team (and leading)

@AvalonX - Storm, Jean and Wolverine are all getting solo-series so they don't get to be on a team. Only Wolverine can be in multiple places at once.

@kider2 - I'm not sure Jean or Storm can carry a book by themselves honestly. I'd rather see them on the team. The Emma team is really watered down for a flagship.

@TheManWithoutFear - She does good writing teams and good to havd Rogue lead. Hopefully she will recapture some of that Mike Carey X-men Rogue magic.

Rogue is one of the characters with more potential to MCU, if done right. People loves Rogue

Such a step backwards, I'm getting Rosenberg vibes from this new line. In other words it's just..meh.

@Mother[frick]erJon - To me this feels very much like a transition line, and that's why we get all-star teams attached. After 16-ish issues per main book, & about 10 from the satellite books, we'll get back to a more stable classic status-quo.

@1stDalek - I read somewhere that McKay has a plan in place to crossover his Avengers and Xmen runs in the summer of next year. Everything between then and now will be a build up.

Find it interesting that every team is based in different areas. Cyclops is in Alaska, Rogue in New Orleans and Shadowcat in Chicago. I'm guessing this will last a year or so before they get a Relaunch to a new area with a new school, likely called "New Beginnings". Anyways the only book I'm worried about is the main X-Men book, as it's overstuffed with characters while the others maintain a tight 5 line-up, though I'm a Magik simp so I'll likely check it out anyway.

I do find it funny that even having multiple Wolverine's Logan still gets a spot on a team and a solo comic, Lara also gets her own comic too (NYX) so Wolverine keeps being everywhere.

Ya know, between what we're seeing above and the popularity of "X-Men '97", it could well be that the version of the X-Men that we're getting in the MCU is in fact the 90s version, matching costumes and all (I mean, look at Wolverine in "D&W") and Marvel is just starting the hype for it when we get it in a couple of years. It would be a new approach that we haven't gotten yet, the stories are all there and pretty much beloved by everyone (more or less), and that's the version of the X-Men that most folks will be familiar with by the time the movie comes out, so why not? I mean, they're giving us 60s FF apparently in all their quasi-futuristic 60s glory, so give us 90s X-Men. LFG!
