Maximum CarnageAbsolute CarnageKing in Black. Every few years, the wild symbiote corner of the Marvel Universe erupts in a saga oozing with violence, drama, and insanity that only Venom and his kind can deliver. This August, the next milestone symbiote event arrives in Al Ewing and Iban Coello's Venom War.

Writer Al Ewing has been laying the foundation for this story since the beginning of his current run of Venom. That's followed Eddie Brock and his son, Dylan, on separate journeys as the symbiote heroes. However, after both have terrifying glimpses of the future, they realize only one of them can be Venom.

However, they may have some competition.

Thanks to AIPT, we have a first look at the Venom War: Spider-Man tie-in series, and the cover depicts Peter Parker back in black and wearing the alien costume. However, if the chains are anything to go by, the spectacular superhero has somehow got his hands on Dylan's suit!

"Spider-Man is back in black! It’s an honor and a privilege for the Hivemind to join the masterful Greg Land for this tale of brotherhood in the face of epic, devastating villainy," writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly told the site. "As Immortal Al Ewing's Venom War kicks off across the streets of New York, Peter Parker will once again find himself tested by the power and pull of the symbiote for whom he was the very first host."

They added, "This is the Last Temptation of Black Suit Spider-Man - complete with glimpses into his glorious past, his complicated present, and his dark potential future - and we’re thrilled for fans to finally see what we’ve been cooking up."

Here's the official description for Venom War:

LAST VENOM STANDING! The Venom Symbiote has bonded with both Eddie Brock and his son Dylan at different points. Now both Brocks are going head-to-head, determined to be the one, true Venom! Father versus son in a showdown of showdowns that threatens to tear the world asunder! From heavyweight talent champions Ewing and Coello comes a Battle for the ‘Biote like you’ve never seen!

so he uses chains now?

@Reginator - Dylan Brock as Venom has and uses chains. I guess that's their way of trying to make him be unique as Venom. Peter having chains on the cover here I believe is solely meant to imply that he's wearing the legit 616 symbiote that most recently bonded to Dylan and not an alternate version or anything

@Reginator - never really explained chain power except to separate Eddie and dylan lokk on venom

‘Somehow got his hands on Dylan’s suit’

Dylan’s suit IS the original symbiote. That’s the point

I just hope Venom War ends with Eddie with the symbiote. The Cates run to me proved that Venom is simply more interesting when it's Eddie Brock. Plus, being bonded with the symbiote is the only way I see Eddie being able to deal with what's going on in his ongoing.

As venom fan slowly hated how marvel changes to venom over time spider logo I can kinda accept that , was never crazy about his new eyes jagged wild small looking Peter never wanted symbiote but he does use it from time to Time , hate be artist work on ghost rider and venom drawing chains symbiote webbing should change with host Brock jr chains Edie and Peter anyone else webbing bond Eddie over years venom could never think of things as chains use as weapons and webbing

I don't get the appeal of Venom at all. The character just derails a Spider-Man story. I check out when they're doing Venom stuff.

@HermanM - There was a good reason Raimi didn't want to include him in Spider-Man 3 and it wasn't just overcrowding.

@ObserverIO - Yep I agree. Venom is a lame character and concept.

I thought Spider-Man was now the Green Goblin. Now they are making him Venom again too? Why not just make him the new Kingpin of Crime and then have Doctor Octopus take over his brain? Spider-Man writers are getting a bit ridiculous.

@hainesy - I thought Gwen Stacy was the current Green Goblin.

@Amuro - Either way, I just don't care. Amazing Spider-man has been full of bad ideas for so many years now.

I'm much more interested with what they're doing with Ultimate Spider-man.
