Comic-Con Video Leftovers

The last few bits and pieces of awesome from San Diego Comic-Con 2009!

Everyone loves leftovers, right? Cold pizza for breakfast, turkey sandwiches two days after Thanksgiving, pudding skin...

Well, here's my leftovers from Comic-Con. Not as fresh, not as recognizable, but, so delicious. Enjoy!

A pillar of feminine strength in Hollywood and an icon in the history of science fiction cinema, Sigourney Weaver takes the stage to introduce her character in James Cameron's long-awaited return to feature film making, Avatar. Sigourney thanked the audience for loving movies and said, "This is the movie you've been waiting for!"

The star of Avatar, Sam Worthington, couldn't be in attendance (because he's blowing up right now), but he sent along a recorded message for the fans.

The most ridiculously gratuitous celebrity appearance of the entire Comic-Con. Anna Farris, Andy Samberg and Bobbe Thompson take the stage in support of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs...and then quickly walk right back off stage.

Hall H, as seen from the press pit to the right of the stage, just before the Twilight Saga: New Moon panel.

@Gunsmith: As soon as the video rolled, I had to shut down my Flip camera or risk having it confiscated by security.

@Ozy: I think Sam is a little too "rough around the edges" for either of those characters. But, he would probably make a pretty good Hawkman, since the current incarnation is a beefy badass with an attitude.

BRENT, I SUGGEST AN IDEA...EVERYONE DRESSES UP,WHY NOT CREATE A HIDDEN CAMERA DEAL ON MAYBE A HEAD DEAL OR HIDE IT IN A HAT OR SOMETHING.

I CAN SEE ACKLES PLAYING HAWKEYE BUT NOT CAP, HE DOESNT COME ACROSS AS A BLONDE HAIRED SUPER SOLDIER..

@Gunsmith: Ha! It's funny you should mention that because this guy was talking about hiding his camera in his hat during the Iron Man 2 roundtable interviews.

@superhero9: The chances of Marvel Studios making a crossover movie with its characters and those of Warner Bros./DC are a billion to one, so I wouldn't worry about that. Too much of a legal and logistical nightmare to ever be practical.

However, I heard speculation that the reason Reynolds took the Green Lantern role is because the Deadpool movie is not happening after the poor performance of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The "word" is that they are not going to be doing one, which is why Ryan took the other gig.

The only film that is definitely happening (at this moment) is X-Men: First Class.

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner said:

"So it’s young Scott (Cyclops), young Jean (Marvel Girl), young Beast and that’ll be really fun. I think the plan is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world. And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up."

Brent @ Donner better include ANGEL & ICEMAN in that FIRST CLASS lol! Heh heh, yeah original team, well i really wish though it sounds Donner may want to seperate her franchise with the other one, good news no mention of WHITE QUEEN etc! Don't get me wrong i love WHITE QUEEN but she does not need to be a horrible watered down version from BORIGINS! Im with SHAMAN, WHITE QUEEN in X4, both franchises can co-exesist easy! Oh yeah TRACI LORDS heh heh ; )

Anyway, it really seems DONNER wants to stay as true to the comics as poss without confusing Joe Public, very cool news, best to date man!!!

I reckon the only way we can ever hope to see a DC/MARVEL crossover movie is the obvious way, either WARNER BROS gets a few MARVEL characters off MARVEL like FOX and SONY has, infact i don't know why they never have? Or the other way around, MARVEL get a few DC characters off WB to use, why not??? Easy!

It'll be like a SLY and ARNOLD movie, BIG!!! An something you'd never expect!!! ; )

WOLVERINE ORIGINS WASN'T HORRIBLE, IT MADE MONEY DIDNT IT? MAYBE WHEN THE DVD SALES GO THEY MIGHT RECONSIDER DEADPOOL. I HONESTLLY HATE THE IDEA FOR FIRST CLASS, EXPLORING TEEN ANGST AND DRAMA IS JUST AN BLAHTO ME. THEY TEENAGERED DRAGONBALL..WICH COULD HAVE BEEN EPIC..WHAT A TRAINWRECK.

Avatar sounds like it will be one of Cameron's best films yet. Even though all of his movies are good.

At Comic Con, for those who keep wanting footage... at every panel I saw at least 2 people being escorted out of the room and cameras being held by security. There was a man sitting 3 people down from me in the aisle and he stood his camera up on a tripod and when he was done setting it up he appeared to shut everything down. When someone asked to pass by him for the bathroom he said no, it would disturb his filming. He didn't make it but 3 seconds into the video. The security swarmed him sooooo fast. I and 3 friends all had iPhones we could have recorded with, and believe me I wanted to, but seeing that no one I could see got away with it, it wasn't worth the risk. Someone should open a Comic Con based article for each panel and have the people that were there talk about it and answer questions.
