From Academy Award-winning film-maker Peter Jackson comes The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, the third in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by JRR TolkienThe Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo's frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide: unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-Earth hangs in the balance.

Starring Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly, Cate Blanchett, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom and Hugo Weaving, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits theaters on December 17, 2014.

I saw the 15 second teaser yesterday and that's enough; seeing any more would just detract from the experience.

Middle-Earth is coming to an end, and I honestly couldn't be happier. These films (The Hobbit trilogy primarily) are bloated, some-what incoherent movies that are designed with great detail to trick you into thinking you're watching this masterpiece.

With that said, I do love the LoTR trilogy. Brilliant, but has many flaws.

The Hobbit movies are trash.

Smaug however, was great. Laketown was beautifully done.

Cool as up until the cart on the ice with the wargs bit.

The worst bits of any Tolkien film have always been stuff that isn't in the books,Legolas better not start suffing on trolls or whatever, might as well draft JarJar in.

I've loved these Hobbit films so far, The Hobbit is my favourite book of all time but I fully appreciate the changes Jackson has made in order to make these movies. Gimme more Tauriel!

Good choice of "trailer music".

I guess that the rumor is true. That the tone of the film will link the Hobbit trilogy to the Lord of the Rings trilogy, in the best possible way.

I went to theater for the first film and thought it was a very slow start, even more than the first of the LOTR trilogy. I skipped out on the second. This trailer looks amazing so I will have to not miss it.

Unimpressive, CGI laden digital mess that has more fan fiction than actual content derived from the book.

I can't help but get excited for this. It may very well be the last time Middle Earth is depicted in film for some time, for better or for worse.

Lol @ all the people who dislike the Hobbit trilogy. I understand that everybody can't like everything, that's only natural. If you think it's boring, whatever, I tried to watch Doctor Who and I thought it was boring. Everybody can't like everything. But the reasons that you guys bring up about why you don't like it are the most blissfully ignorant, uninformed, why-are-you-even-on-this-website, type of reasons and foolishness that I've ever heard. That's it -- I'm doing an editorial on it. I can't hold it in any longer.

Haha. 'The Battle of the Five Armies' is going to rock, can't wait.
