With the Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience happening right in my backyard, I thought it was only fitting to post the top 5 reasons to attend this year's FanX. There are a slew of reasons to attend... I didn't include the merchants, which is my kids favorite part and where I splurge on my collectables collection every six months, and I didn't include the guests from Supernatural or Grimm, which are two of my favorite shows over the last few years, but instead decided to focus on the top 5 things that the users here on CBM would be interested in.

#1 - The Walking Dead

Zombie lovers will also have a lot to look forward to this weekend, with opportunities to meet three stars from AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” Steven YeunEmily Kinney and Laurie Holden have been announced as special guests for the convention. They did a group photo on Thursday!

Additionally, Zom-B Laser Tag, a popular attraction from Salt Lake Comic Con 2014, will be returning, giving participants the chance to test their shooting skills and find out if they can survive the zombie apocalypse. There are four levels of gameplay and entry is $10 and can be purchased at the door

#2 - Star Wars

When the first batch of FanX 2015 celebrity guests was announced in November,Carrie Fisher immediately made a splash on social media. Get ready for Episode VII: The Force Awakens by meeting Princess Leia! Joining her will be fellow Star Wars guest and Salt Lake Comic Con 2013 alum Ray Park, who is perhaps best known for his iconic performance as Darth Maul in Episode I.

For more Star Wars fun, be sure to check out the R2 Builders Club and pick out some great, galactic paintings from one of our amazing illustrators in Artist Alley. And, as always, there will be plenty of chances to snag a picture with Star Warscosplayers in the Expo Hall. See if you can find members of the world-renown 501st Legion’s Alpine Garrison!

#3 - Doctor Who

If you're a fan of the BBC’s wildly popular program “Doctor Who,” this is your chance to see Matt Smith, who played the Eleventh Doctor; Billie Piper, who was Rose Tyler, the Doctor’s companion for several seasons; and FanX ‘14 alumna Karen Gillan, who is returning to Salt Lake City for the second time. Piper and Gillan will have their own spotlight panels, which are free for all attendees to see, and the Doctor Who Ultimate Xperience panel will include all three “Doctor Who” guests, on-stage together for a special, once-in-a-lifetime event.

#4 - Superman Returns

Superman is coming to Salt Lake Comic Con in the form of Brandon Routh, who played the Man of Steel in the 2006's Superman Returns. Routh is also known for his roles in “Chuck,” Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and most recently as Ray Palmer in “Arrow”.

#5 - The Panels

There are over 150 hours of programming scheduled for FanX 2015. Spend an hour with your favorite celebrities as they discuss their career and answer your questions, receive writing tips from authors, discuss topics including convention survival, video games, Lord of the Rings, Sundance, Monty Python, Muppets, time travel, geek parenting and much more.

The entire panel schedule can be found online at:http://SaltLakeComicCon.com/panel_schedule/ or by downloading the official FanX mobile app for Android and iOS devices. Check out the panel from Arrow star Stephen Amell at Salt Lake Comic Con 2014 to get a taste of what you’ll experience.

The Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience runs from January 29-31. Learn more at http://saltlakecomiccon.com/ and pick up your tickets before they sell out! I hope to see you there this weekend!

Damn...I was hoping Nate didn't make this article.

He spanks me when I make Mormon jokes...and I like it a little too much. And that only makes him madder. I don't want the ball gag again.
