Day 3-

The final day of the Wizard World St. Louis Comic-Con event has come and gone. Like every year, Sunday starts out somewhat hectic but quickly mellows and slows until the inevitable moment when we must sadly say goodbye to Wizard World. Many fans came dressed in the same outfits worn in the previous two days with only a fair amount of new costumes in the crowd.

Sunday is the designated “Kids Day” at WW where child based activities are the primary focus. However, due to some issues, quite a few events were cancelled and/or replaced. Another surprise was the amount of children. There was definitely more adults looking for deals on merchandise then there were kids. The little ones that did show up certainly had a good time when they got to go on stage with illusionist Morgan Strebler as he managed to duplicate an original drawing done by one of the children. The magic? The duplicate was in a sealed envelope and the original was drawn by the child on site! How did he do it? Only Strebler knows.

There was also the Weta Workshop makeup demonstration. One of the WW attendees was made over live as the makeup and prop professionals from the Weta Workshop turned him from an average man into a wise and experienced looking troll. If you are unfamiliar with Weta, the company has been frequently credited with bringing fantasy into reality. Their works include makeup, creatures, weapon and armor, costumes and other props for TV and film. Their creations can be seen in shows like Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess but their claim to fame came when they were hired to do work for the Lord of the Rings franchise. Other credits include Mad Max: Fury Road, Avatar, the Narnia series and the King Kong (2005).

Wizard World St. Louis Comic-Con 2015 wasn’t as explosively impressive as it was the previous two years but it was fun none the less. It was refreshing seeing the wide variety of cosplay outfits and to see the fans taking genuine interest in the booths with all the unique merchandise. So, will WWSTL step it up next year? Will we be losing our minds waiting for our next trip to the Americas Center? Time will tell. See you guys next year, April 1st -2nd -and 3rd in 2016!
