AVENGERS: ENDGAME Directors WOULD Helm A Movie For DC Studios But Now Say BATMAN Is Off The Table

After recently expressing interest in bringing Batman to the big screen for DC Studios, Joe and Anthony Russo have now dismissed the notion of ever taking the helm of upcoming reboot The Brave and the Bold.

One of the most exciting DCU movies on the way is, without a doubt, The Brave and The Bold. While we've seen almost too much Batman on our screens in recent years, it at least sounds like DC Studios and James Gunn are trying to deliver something new.

The movie will revolve around the DCU's Batman as he learns he has a young son, Damian. Just like in Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's critically acclaimed Batman and Robin comic book series, the 10-year-old will also become his father's new sidekick, though we also anticipate seeing other members of the Bat-Family make their presence felt in this all-new Gotham City.

Earlier this week, Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo made headlines after suggesting they would like to helm this Batman reboot.

However, doing the rounds to promote Citadel, the filmmakers have now said that's the last character they're interested in bringing to the big screen.

Anthony started by saying, "The one movie we would never, ever do..." only for Joe to interject with, "...is another Batman [Laughs]."

"We love James. We adore him," the latter continued. "We support everything he's doing over there and we'd be happy to work with him at any point. It wouldn't be Batman. We usually try to think of a very offbeat or funny character and we were so tired when they asked us that question, we were like, 'We can only really think of Batman right now.'"

So, they're out of consideration!

Ben Affleck and The Flash director Andy Muschietti are among those rumoured to potentially direct The Brave and the Bold, and given how busy the Russo Brothers are running their production company AGBO, we don't think they'll be returning to the MCU or joining the DCU anytime soon.

The Brave and the Bold doesn't currently have a confirmed release date.

I wouldn't hate them on this. I think an underrated choice for Brave and the Bold would be Leigh Whannell.

@GhostDog - Could see him do the live action Creature Commandos movie for sure.

@GhostDog - Upgrade was so damn good and I hope the series they're making does it justice. When The Invisible Man came out I really had no desire to try it but my gf wanted to watch and once I realized he wrote/directed I was in and ended up loving that as well. I also haven't seen Ghost Dog and have been putting it off far too long so I'm gonna have to peep that soon.

@GhostDog - haha I have it and I shall watch it soon and I'll report back. I hadn't heard about it until a couple of years ago somehow and always have wanted to give it a watch but now I will. I liked the trailer and a friend highly recommended it as well so now I must.

I know this is supposed to be a Bat Family movie, but they seem better for an ensemble. Justice League is probably too on the nose, but a Green Lanterns, Titans, Justice League Dark, or something along those lines could be nice.

I wouldn't mind them doing a Captain Atom film, or The Question or even an ensemble film like the original Justice Society.

Probably for the best...wouldn't want a Batman movie looking like a car commercial anyways lol ;)

These two haven't made a good film since Infinity War. Batman was never on the table boys..... it's above your pay grade.

@ObserverIO - I would love to see the Denny O’Neil, Neil Adams and Dick Giordano series properly adapted. Even if it wasn’t one of the actual stories or a combination of any of the actual comic book stories, if they got that dynamic right it would be awesome

Is anyone else troubled by The Batman having a 10-year-old sidekick, even if he was trained by the League of Assassins? It’s bad enough in a comic book but it’s really going to look bad in live action. Even in the very comic booky Batman Forever, he was a young adult. I hope they go with a Robin who is older like this and not 10 years old.

@RolandD -

"Kick-Ass" already crossed that bridge with 'Hit Girl'

@Scripturepoetic - I know but that is not the model for any DC movie that I want to see.

Something tells me
they are going to go 'young'

and there's no stopping it

@RolandD - Neither the child endangerment or believability factor would translate well into live action if they used a kid. The only actor to portray Robin who wasn't in his 20s was the original Robin, Douglas Croft, and even he was 16.

Here's a handy list:

Douglas Croft - 16.
Johhny Duncan - 25.
Burt Ward - 21.
Chris O'Donnell - 25.
Joseph Gordon Levitt - 31.
Brenton Thwaites - 28.
Curran Walters - 21.
Jay Lycurgo - 25.

But if it's ever gonna work, then the heightened idea of a kid who was raised to be an assassin is probably the best shot they're ever gonna have.

I suppose... imagine if Hit-Girl thought she would be a perfect sidekick to Batman and he was like "Um, no" and she had to unlearn her murderous ways and try to use those skills in a less fatal way. It could work.

@ObserverIO -

If they follow through with the youngest Robin to date 📅

I see them going the comedy route to soften up the concept for general viewing
