Since taking over as co-heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran have made quite a few difficult decisions about the future of the DC Universe, and some (most?) of them have not gone over very well with the fanbase... to say the least.
While many do understand the need to shake things up and take the DCU in a new direction, a full reboot is not what anyone expected, and dropping Henry Cavill as Superman, in particular, has come in for a lot of backlash - especially as the actor only recently announced his return as the Man of Steel following his appearance in Black Adam.
Gunn has now taken to Twitter to respond to the negative comments (and outright abuse) he's received over the past week or so.
The filmmaker also debunked a recent rumor that he and Safran are planning to recast every DC character aside from the members of Task Force X we saw The Suicide Squad.
We're not sure if he means The Suicide Squad will also be recast, or that there will be some actors from the previous DCEU era that will stay on in their roles, but based on what we've heard, we're leaning towards the former.
Gunn and Safran are reportedly set to present their "bible" to Warner Bros. Discovery boss David Zaslav this week, so a full announcement outlining their plans might well be imminent.
