The more I read comics about Deadpool, I think god what did Fox do? Hopefully Ryan Reynolds actually has the pull, to pull off what he is saying in his interviews. I am not sure he does, but I am extremely hopefully. In the mean time here is my review of the first 3 issues of Deadpool: Suicide Kings.
The basic premise of the story is that Deadpool, both of him, sees an ad to compete for the world's best assassin. Deadpool goes to see about the ad and finds a room full of "henchmen". After dispatching them in true Deadpool fashion. A rich kid, Conrad, who needs Deadpool's help emerges from the shadows. Conrad is in trouble with an Albino Mob boss (not to give it away). Well, as one would expect Deadpool agrees to help Conrad and Deadpool heads to the location Conrad gives him. Although, the location is not what it seems and everyone there is already dead. The building blows up and now Deadpool is on the run, vowing to hunt down and kill Conrad. That is essentially the first issue. Aside from a cameo from Outlaw, apparently the love interest. The best part about Deadpool is his candor and swagger. D:SK#1 does not disappoint. It is, actually very funny and it provides adequate depth for the beginning of the story. Deadpool is a great character and does not disappoint. On to issue #2.
Issue #2 begins with Deadpool trying to figure out what he has been framed for and how to find Conrad. While all of that is happening we see Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher trying to find Deadpool's location (Please no one complain about spoilers, he is on the cover). Thus, leading to an encounter. While there is a cool twist thrown in, I will not say anymore. Issue #2 does a great job continuing the story from the first issue with a coherent and logical, without being linear, story line. Like I said the twist is really pretty cool and the action sequences are drawn extremely well and show a great amount of action. The comedy is also there in full force. Nothing like seeing the Punishers face, after a sarcastic comment from our Protagonist.
Issue #3 continues where issue #2 left off. Deadpool is now running from the Punisher and is getting help from who he can, despite being the last person you would think of. Where #3, does a great job is it picks back up with Conrad and lets us into a little of the back-story, while not giving anything way, while doing a great job of being completely unpredictable. The best part of issue #3 is how it ends. The ending is ridiculous and is the perfect cliffhanger leading into issue#4.
Long story, short. Deadpool: Suicide Kings, is a really cool story with everything, us, the fans could want from Deadpool. Deadpool is funny, sarcastic, creepy, vile and well... Deadpool. His interactions with other heroes/villains is priceless. This mini-series is definitely a must buy or snag from your buddy. I can not wait for issue #4. Let me know what you think.
